Match Newcastle Away 1.30pm Sunday Sept 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Euros was odd.... He was getting so gassed up during the group games and early knockout but the attacks we were facing were utter shit.
I thought the only time he got tested was against Holland for 25 mins and Spain. In the other games it was easy for the English defence because they came up against nothing till the semis.
I just don’t see the hype with him. He’s not good in the air,he’s not lightening quick,he’s not overly aggressive not brilliant on the ball and anybody wanting to pay £70 million plus for him should be sectioned. I think you have to have those attributes to command that type of fee as defender. I think Braithwaite is better than him and I think he’s overhyped too.

Ahhhh, Hope.

She's a cruel mistress.

Do you have her number?

I know the 4-0 last year was bad but I think we can put the 6-1 to bed -this was our line up that day

Lloris

Porro
Dier
Romero
Perisic

Skipp
Hojbjerg
Sarr

Son
Kane
Kulusevski

not a lot of survivors.

Big big game, I think it's a good time to play them. A win would be absolutely massively with the 2 week break to follow.

in other news there's a special place in hell for whoever came up with September International break.

We've been getting embarrassed there. Need the players to show a reaction.

They're not a great side overall but have Gordon and Isak to counter us and they are deadly. They are kind of set up perfectly to go against us.

We will dominate the ball again and need to be clinical like we were against Everton.
The players just need to show some bottle and that they have matured since last season because we will have a few things go against us and the crowd react etc.

Only bit I disagree with is the aggressive bit. From what I saw in the Euros he is quite aggressive and tries to get in front of his man forcefully to get the ball.
Not a ball playing defender , that's for sure.

And Howe will want to win the game. By Saturday they will be ready of course.

As always with us, it's whether we cope with their intensity, if we don't gift goals. If we go behind, as we are likely to do, can we respond?

And yes, Newcastle will look forward to this game. Why wouldn't they.
They won’t be looking forward to it, I don’t think any team will look forward to facing spurs this year. Spurs will put all teams under immense pressure this year. Just look at the last 2 games spurs were camped in their 18 yard box for a majority of the games.

This is one of those occasions where he should be banned after a review this week. It’s as red of a red card as you can get. I’d like to hear the refs reasoning not to give it other than him admitting incompetence
Maybe a good thing for us he plays on Sunday - apart from the wild streak he also got robbed deep in their half to set Bournemouth away and score. Not a reliable player holding the ball under pressure from an effective pressing team. Way to go this Sunday, surely.
