Just because there are more candidates it doesn't mean they are interested in the job. This board is toxic and I think it's the main reason why managers would be reluctant to come here. There is a whole history of them screwing over every single manager they've had.

100% and it will happen to the next bloke and the next and the next, until ENIC go. But the job is still very attractive to a lot of top managers and that is before they even look at the salary they can get.

And let's be honest.

Managers getting "screwed over by the board" is not unique to Spurs. In fact it happens almost everywhere. We just focus on our own problems since we prefer talking about our own club. But you can bet money on there being similar discussions among fans of most clubs in Europe. Including at bigger ones (looking at you, Bayern and PSG).

To a much lesser extent though tbf. Also it doesn't seem to impact other clubs ability to win trophies either, so I believe we are the the biggest problem re. our board screwing over our managers. Also how many managers has our board (read Levy and Cullen) sacked? What is it now 4 in the last 6 years including 3 of the best out there? Yes Chelsea are bad at that too, but they win plenty of trophies along the line, so it's obviously not impacting player morale like it does at Spurs. Rest assured we are a unique problem sadly.

I wouldn't disagree but its rare for people to not take their chance. They either believe in themselves or they don't. Many have flown too close to the sun, and more will do so in the future...

Look at Gerrard, took the poisoned chalice that was the Villa job, now any chance of returning to Liverpool are gone. Kompany would be best suited staying with Burnley, little will be expected of them, if he keeps them up playing good football, with an identity, it will be seen as a success.

If he came to us, I think his youth and inexperience could work against him and the crowd would get on him sooner than a more proven manager.

I have clearly stated the lack of a coherent and appropriate football strategy is a strong and valid critique of Levy. We agree on that.

But the FACTS are that we have overperformed relative to your resources in 10 out of the past 12 seasons. That is staggering overachievement. So while we are both frustrated, the results have been better than we should expect most seasons.

To focus on the 3 times in the past decade when a team with less resources has won a trophy shows how ridiculous your argument is.

A team with less resources than us has never won the league cup in the past decade.
A team with less resources than us has won the FA cup twice in the past decade.
A team with less resources than us had won the league once in the past decade.

The fact this happens so infrequently is all the evidence you need for how tough it is and how far the odds are stacked against us. The league win by Leicester was incredible at the time and everyone agreed it was a historically improbable event.

It’s a shame we haven’t had the luck needed to win a trophy over the past decade… and it’s true that two other teams have had that luck… but on average we have performed significantly better than both of those teams over the past decade. We just haven’t had that bit of luck needed.

FdB is a bad example. He had the crutch of the incredible Ajax setup that allowed him to succeed. All he had to do yo win the title in Holland was to not fuck up. If you look at his record in Europe, it was dismal. Slot, on the other hand, has done it with teams with significantly lesser resources and has managed to be successful both domestically and in Europe. You really can't put the two in the same category.

It was factually incorrect. Because 37 out of 40 trophies were not won by teams with more money than us. We were not in the CL in all those years. We were in the europa league and the conference league quite a few times and those were won by clubs with less money than us.

Pep would be a big risk with the BTEC Bean Counter still as Chairman. Doesn’t matter who we get with the bald miser at the helm, they will be sacked (the only variable is whether it takes 8 games or 18 months)

The 37 of the 40 trophies LeParisien LeParisien was referring to were the domestic trophies.
