I think Romero, Porro, Bissouma, Bentancur and Gil would all benefit in a Luis Enrique system.

Means we'd need a new goalkeeper as we all know, Raya would probably be the favourite as he's Spanish but also ticks the HG quota and only has 1 year left on his deal. New centre back could well be Pau Torres who we have been linked with for years, I don't particularly rate him but it's the case of backing a manager. Udogie would be fine.

But it does require a massive overhaul, unless he thinks he can get something out of the likes of Winks and Lo Celso who like to at least play football for depth.

I mean, we need significant investment at CB and GK regardless of which manager we hire.

Based on past history, I think the search will go like this. 1. Make offers to elite managers (turned down). 2. Find an Italian manager who believes the moon landing was fake because he saw a BBC documentary (Philomena Cunk) that said the moon doesn't exit. Offer him job until press finds quotes. 3. Ryan Mason offered job and immediately goes into hiding. 4. Levy says next manager will respect Spurs DNA....Spurs DNA is tested and found to be mostly Italian and 1/10th Portugese 5. Premier League bans Spurs from transfer market for 2 seasons after it is found Paratici has been running manager search. 6. BBC begins daily scroll on news, "Day 73 Tottenham held hostage...." 7. Puff of smoke rises over Spurs HQ giving hope manager has been selected...turns out to be Paratici burning transfer documents. 8. Finally, a member of weekend janitorial staff emerges to read prepared statement from Levy that Olegg Gunnar Solkskjaer has been named manager.

To run aground again, I should say.

Of course Poch was a smashing success here overall, but in his final months everything went so, so wrong and then was shockingly and abruptly ended.

We naturally wonder if we should have just stuck it out with Poch and given him the resources we gave to Jose and Conte instead.

If Poch comes back and things are still bad and tepid and ill-fitting the way they are (a listlessness that started when he was still here), that gives us a chance to get closure and say that the Poch miracle was just lightning in a bottle we happened to catch once upon a time.

Italian outlet Sportitalia have claimed in a new report that Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici has held a meeting with Will Still about the possibility of becoming the manager of Spurs.

According to the report, these talks were held in Switzerland as Tottenham recently identified the Reims manager as a new candidate for the role.

There are no doubt a few candidates for this role. Chairman Daniel Levy and Paratici need to get this managerial hiring right as the Spurs fan base are not happy.

LCB will be the most important transfer of the summer. I hope we can do better than Pau Torres.

I'm sure any manager who thinks he might be able to work with N'Dombele and Lo Soso will really appeal to Levy

That bullshit has been posted about 3 times already today.

Direct football. We can not play possession based football with our bunch of midfielders (maybe Bentancur aside). I doubt even Bissouma would be able to play that style.
Bissouma was an integral part of Potter's Brighton who are/were all about possession Football.

I'm not sure how you could want Potter in then say Enrique's style wouldn't suit Bissouma, when it's essentially the same style.

Brighton are way more direct than Luis Enrique though. The tempo of Brighton's play is incomparable to Spain's.
Pacier yes, but the style is fundamentally the same.

Enrique's ability is largely coloured, for some, by his stint with Spain. He's shown, when he has the personnel up front, that his team is very direct once they've carved out an opening.

I don't really have a favourite to be appointed, I just want someone in who can stop the rot, bin off the old guard and get us playing Football that we can enjoy, worry about the trophies later. If Enrique is the man to do that then grand. If it's Potter then grand. I also like what I'm reading about Slot, and I've been a big fan of Postecoglou since my time in Brisbane.

We've been pleasantly surprised by some relatively unknown managers previously, with Jol and Poch, so I'd be quietly excited to see what the likes of Slot or Postecoglou could do with us.
