Put my vote in for Carrick. Ideally I want De Zerbi but I think he'll get bored of the lack of ambition after a couple years and go to an elite club.

The fact that Carrick has just started out as a manager is a positive for me, it means he can grow with the club and stay here for a few years and build something.

All the other choices are good managers but I don't think they'd stay here for long. They'd just be there waiting for another club to offer them a contract. Carrick isn't there yet and would have to earn that first which is why I think he'd be the best fit.
I voted Carrick for similar reasons, but in truth the issue with Carrick is that if/when he comes good he's off to United.

I've voted for Conte.

I do feel he could offer us abit more. I appreciate the style and recent weeks hasn't been a great sell however there are parts of our game I do like and when it clicks it does work well.

My 2nd choice would be Poch purely because he'll bring some uplift to the playing style on a more regular basis however I can recall lots of games under him where we struggled to break down teams etc that's not to say he didn't do a great job with us because he did.

I think he did get found out towards the end of his time with us but maybe he'll come back with new and improved ideas.

I think Ten Hag will be there for a while so I’m not that worried about it.

I expect so too and certainly see ETH lasting all of next season; but it'll be interesting to see if they back him about with another big stack of money and they don't kick on next season as many so casually assume(*).

(*)There's a suprising amount of ageing players in that squad now too.

Some very good options there.

I'll go for Poch only because he knows us, and if Conte didn't make us win, then nobody will.

My ideal choice would be to keep Conte, however his personal life has taken its toll on him, and the fact that he's not 100% commited to the club loses him points.

Tuchel is the same as Conte. No point in getting a superstar manager if we wont give him what he needs. Jose and Conte didn't work, so Tuchel won't either.

Nagelsmann is an interesting one. Very highly rated at Leipzig, however he's been very naive (also unfourtunate) at Bayern. He'd suit Spurs a lot as a manager.

Enrique is underwhelming. He probably built the best Barcelona side ever, even better than Pep's Barca, however the talent that he had was otherworldy. His spells at Roma and Spain have not been great.

The Potter ship sailed. He refused us, went to Chelsea, looks like he's failing there while his previous team went up a level after he left. Good manager, but wouldn't be a well-recieved appointment here.

Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Roberto De Zerbi are all on the same boat. The flavors of the month. Silva loses points because of his Everton spell, while De Zerbi and Frank are part of 2 brilliant systems, and Potter proved that going to a bigger club which is in disarray will show your weaknesses.

Gallardo is the unknown Poch (when it comes to European football). He was 2nd in the list for me (after Conte) in the managerial hunt after we sacked Jose, however now that Poch is available I'd rather have Poch.

Carrick would be the very interesting one. Played for us, has transformed Boro, and plays attractive football from what I've seen. The only problem would be if he will get enough respect from the dressing room, since he's very young in his managerial career. Kompany has the same credentials apart from the fact that he didn't play for us.

Will Still is the wildcard. What he has done at Reims is incredible, however he has always stated that it's too early for him to come to the Premier League, and upon that he said that his dream is to manage West Ham, which is something that might happen sooner rather than later.

Galtier, Rose, Amorim etc. look both unrealistic and without any trademark qualities.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Gary Megson

Out of work , no compensation to pay

I see your Megson and raise you a Monk...

(You could say that about anyone...)

My question is why wouldn't he be willing to commit?
I just see it as similar to the situation with conte, where he isn’t willing to commit either.

Obviously I don’t know what they’re thinking but they might just see it as a stopgap where they can make a shit ton of money.

I think Ten Hag will be there for a while so I’m not that worried about it.
Managerial shelf life tends to be short unless there's a real connection to the club. Ten Hag can easily be a success there and still be off in 4-5 years.

If Carrick proved he could succeed here under an investor ownership model, he'd 100% be at the top of the list of candidates there whenever that job is open again. And given his deep ties to that club and their always considerably higher finances, I have no doubts he'd be off.

Still, in the short term it would have meant we succeeded which is better than treading water with shite football which is what we've seen for the last several years.
