Ten Hag was such the obvious hire, back in summer 2021. Perfect match in terms of priorities and style, and just what we needed. Still don’t understand how we fucked that up. Something about a bad interview…? Like wtf honestly. Or did HE turn US down.

In all honesty , whoever comes , are they going to believe the bald carbuncle?

It’s blatantly obvious the squad needs investment & the starting XI needs major surgery. If he won’t do it for the managers we’ve had will he ever ? It’ll be him admitting that he’s wrong. I can’t help thinking of the Boy who cried wolf , you can’t trust him.

Add to that a DoF that can’t do his job properly , what a car crash.

It's a bad idea, and would be a misstep by Levy, but I don't think this is a Levy-specific thing. If Qatar took over the team overnight they'd be tempted by the same thing.

Poch wanting to come back is what makes the situation so weird. In a normal version of this scenario the former coach would never dream of taking his old job back for any number of reasons.

But the bastard is as romantic as we are :pochcry:

In the unlikely scenario of Qatar coming in wouldn’t they prefer a trophy hound like Conte rather than Poch who they sacked at psg?

If the Qatari links have any substance in them then I think everyone involved at the club needs to chill out and that includes Conte. Their arrival could change everything financially. If they aren’t levy led bollocks of course.

It really doesn't matter who comes in because they'll get fucked over from day one and we'll be in the same boat again soon enough. I'm feeling so cynical about it all right now and I feel sorry for Poch if it's him.

After skimming through the 236 tweets that O'keefe sent just today for something interesting apparently Ancelotti might leave Madrid and Poch would be a candidate (although he believes Tuchel would be ahead).

More interestingly, he said that there are people within the Tottenham hierarchy who want to look forward and not back and don't like Poch.

This has unfortunately given me the slightest bit of hope that maybe just maybe the board actually have a plan in place.
Not sure why Conte wouldn’t be a candidate for Real.

He won a Tottenham trophy by getting ENIC top4 and has a good relationship with Kane to help them replace Benzema who must be ready to retire soon.

A massive loser who took us from mid table to the champions league final and the cusp of titles, ok we didn’t make that final push but we are where we are today because of Poch. Mourinho and conte have tried and got nowhere near where Poch did

Whilst he lost his mojo with us towards the end, let’s not rewrite history

I honestly don’t know why he’d come back because of this. The club wore him down until he was a mess and it was reflected in the team. He must really be determined to come back or have forgotten about all the usual broken promises. I’m not as convinced as many that it would be a failure by the way. But I want to keep Conte as I think hiring yet another manager isn’t the way forward.

Well said. Some of the revisionist stuff i'm seeing on Poch at the moment is beyond belief. Reading some of the guff on here you'd think he was no better than Gerry Francis.

He wasnt perfect he made mistakes but his first season was a good rebuild, not dissimilar to what is needed now, followed by 3 great years. It was as good as we've seen since the early to mid 80s. The last 10 months him and the team were clapped out, thats what happens working for Levy and no signings for 18 months. I liked Venables, Jol and Redknapp but Poch is our best manager since Burkinshaw and i say that as someone that doesnt really want him back.

The list is a bit dated I feel. Could we at least remove the ones that are too old to walk. And replace with:
Frank - Brentford
De Zerbi - Brighton
Fucking Zorro Fonseca -Lille
Genesio - Rennes
Slot - Feyenoord
Kompany
Carrick

Look at Liverpool, they look a clapped out mess and they have been spending money to try and fix it for Klopp. All teams come to the end of cycle but I dont trust Levy to do it right.

If you bring Poch back you sell basically everyone over 25-27 and spend a lot of money of getting top draw young players in who can be moulded and have the energy to press. But with Levy Son, Dier and Davies will mostly likely get new contracts and it will go tits up.

Players who can stay, (rest would need to be sold)

Sessengnon?
Romero
Bentancur

Sarr
Skipp

Yea if he comes back then no one older than 27. You need an ego free squad, that can run all day and press the shit out of the opposition, with maybe 3 or 4 really top class players in it. That requires Levy selling his Kane and Son comfort blanket and seriously backing the manager in releasing unwanted players and spending big, and therin lies the issue.

Hopefully Scarlett is in the list of keeps as well.

Surely we need to sort out the DOF situation first before thinking about a new long term manager. However If Poch is being brought in for the rest of the season that would make sense as he knows the club as good as anyone.

Everything is a mess right now but it's also an opportunity to make things right. I think Levy realised he has cocked up the football side of things by appointing Patarici. Whilst he has made some good signings he has shown by his manager appointments he doesn't have the right vision for the club. Get a DOF in who is going to get us back to playing high intensity attacking football.

Imagine if klopp left Liverpool at the end of the season and was keen to stay in England….

Imagine if klopp left Liverpool at the end of the season and was keen to stay in England….

He would come here. Ask for players X,Y,Z and end up working with Dier and Royal.

In 18 months we would be saying, ‘’he is inflexible’’, ‘’only got plan A’’, ‘’ not getting enough out of the squad’’.

He will be fired and we move on to the next elite manager to fail.

What Arteta has done at Woolwich is either ingenious in terms of seeing his potential or ingenious because he is a fantastic coach or just bits of good fortune on top of some real insight. No bloody idea.

What's clear is that Pochettino was the right managerial signing for us and that those who have followed have simply been the wring choices for whatever reason.

I think if you look at all clubs it takes time and a bit of good fortune to get it right.

We are no different.

But the major point is, it won’t happen with levy and enic. Their heart just isn’t in it. Not sure why it needs people to be reminded every day.
