I still think that Luis Enrique (Martinez) is our best bet.

He is willing to work with youth. He will implement a attacking style of play that will serve us long term. And he is not shy about calling out bigger names in the locker room. Which I think is what we need.

We need a manager that isn't just going to freeze out fringe players while coddling the stars like Conte. We need someone that is willing to tell the likes of Kane and Son that they need to be the standard bearers that we expect them to be. Luis did this both with Totti and Messi. He won't fear Son or Kane or Lloris.

And even if he only stays for 2-3 years we will benefit just from him implementing a new, much needed change of playing style.
He wouldnt stay 2 or 3 years, it would be 12 to 18 months tops. Same big manager, with the same expectations dealing with the same board with the same result.

Would also fit with our transfer targets of the past and the squad as a whole

Him and Amorim fit the bill

Heart says poch but head says someone like Enrique. Need to learn how to be a possession based team again. Also Enrique had an ageing squad when first got job at Barca so has experience how to implement youngsters in

OK. Assuming Conte is gone in the next few days. Who can we honestly get in to give us a chance of holding on to 4th place? Could Poch be worth it just to lift the mood and then rebuild with youth and fresh blood over the summer? I’m stupidly looking for hope still.

Problem with Enrique is we are chasing him because he had great success elsewhere, just like Conte. Poch is going back, we sacked him remember, will bringing him back wo work with inferior players help us long term?

Carrick has the same profile as Arteta did for Woolwich. Former player, midfielder possession based passer of the ball, and looks to be cutting his teeth and prepping for a long career in management. It would be a massive risk, but why not take it and back him and give him the same backing the Goons gave Arteta. It could well be a bumpy ride, but it would be a speculative appointment with potential upside we cant foresee. Such an appointment would need to have a 5 year horizon and he would need a long leash and patience to experiment. If he does wel in his first year, give him free reign to weed out players like the Goons did, and set a no nonsense mentality.

Any short term manager will not look to youth. Arteta was given a long leash and time, and that enabled him to play Saka, Martinelli, Smith-Rowe. Enrique would be another short-medium term appointment and would be reluctant to look at young players as the duration before they can become top class is longer than his timeframe for staying at the club

Give Carrick a 5 year deal and stick to it.

Before his stint at Chelsea, Tuchel was the most sought after coach in Europe. He was always considered out of reach for us and could literally pick his club.
Should we let a spell at that circus club spoil that ? A short reign at Chelsea is not enough to change an opinion on how good a manager is.
It has shown recently that they are a club in a worse state than we are and are having a worse season than us, so should we use Chelsea as a benchmark?

I’m not so sure but Tuchel should be judged pre Chelsea in my opinion.

I think Tuchel is a good coach but no way do I want another ex Chelsea manager.

We do need someone who can bring abit of feel good to the club as tragic as that sounds.

It's bad when fans are relying on Poch to come back. I really struggle to see how this fanbase at times has any patience in anything the club does.

The trouble is because fans want a trophy so badly, it's putting pressure on the managers to turn us into non recent achievers to suddenly winning trophies. If that doesn't happen then the manager out stuff starts again.

I'm no way defending Conte but we started the season well and as soon as we started slipping up the fans get restless and impatient.

Could get Pep and it wouldn’t matter, outcome is inevitable until Levy fucks off. I can’t believe people have the energy to discuss new managers etc like there’s hope

I laugh at people saying Tuchel. Why the F would he come here? It has been well known by the fans for years but now it’s blatantly known by everyone, this club does not back its managers. If Tuchel comes here, it’s for the paycheque IMO.

I don’t really care who comes tbh, I just want to see some nice attacking football. We have some quality players in the team that are less than 25 (Bentacur, Kulu, and Romero) and we have some real talent on the outskirts (Udogie, Porri, Sar and Gil) and we also have one of the best strikers ever, who, if he decides to stay, could lead the line for the next 6-8 years. We have the potential to be an exciting team. Just need someone to come in and click reset

There is no point bringing CL winning managers to this club under these owners. It will never work. Our owners do not want to win the biggest trophies, so they shouldn’t be hiring a manager who does. It will end up exactly like Mourinho and Conte. They will ask for a top CB and be given a Joe Rodon or a Lenglet instead.

Mason is a nice bloke but I would let him manage an ice cream van.
If Conte wants to suffer the end of the c season, let him stay and earn what he has left.

I’m convinced Amorim is the right profile to come in next,

No more big names. Let the big name players go and be comfortable somewhere else. Restart the culture with a young hungry manager like we did with Poch. Only now we have better players to start with and DOF that’s recruiting a direction. Don’t sell new manager short when he gets us there or thereabouts
