Both Romero and Richarlison would have demanded to leave had Conte stayed.

Fake Surprised Season 8 GIF by Friends

From my mate at the rags who speaks to a lot of journos -

- Spurs dressing room split. Arguments between players is commonplace.

- Conte furious players came back from world cup unfit, and not mentally prepared to play football. In his words - they had a nice holiday, now they don't want to get back to work.

- Players complained training sessions too long and not given enough time off

- Pep expected to leave City in the summer. Chelsea & PSG expected to throw unlimited money his way to tempt him, but consensus is that he will take a season off.

- Tottenham not expected to allow Kane to leave. If he doesn't sign a new contract, Spurs could bench him, leaving his place at the Euro's next year in doubt. Could get very messy if he tries to force a move.

- Conte told board that he couldn't get top 4. Said many players weren't motivated and didn't care since they weren't competing for trophies.

- Conte - players care more about international friendlies than playing for Spurs.

From my mate Big Dave down the pub;

- We are doomed and are looking to disband

- No manager in world football will ever join us

- Every player now wants to join us just to hand in a transfer request

- Forget currently being in the top 4 and all the plus' about the club, we are the ultimate banter club because of afew troll twitter account and we officially (heard afew players mention this) "smell of poo"

Why is it a struggle for people to accept that any waiting may not be driven by us?

The narratives are clearly already being woven now....

"We didn't get Naggelsmann cos he waited too long!"
"If we wanted Poch we should have got him in March!"

etc.

We're verging into the same territory already where people have revised history to imply that Nuno was anything other than a make-shift necessity cos we couldn't get any of our main targets.

..............Would any of you genuinely prefer us to make a half-arse choice from the bottom of our list just cos they are conveniently available now? The irony is off the scale if so.

I take your points. And of course it depends on when managers want to start. It still would be better IMO if we could identify who we wanted and get them in asap.

The shit show we have endured over the last three years makes you realise what a brilliant job Pochettino actually did.

He fit the club. Could deal with Levy’s shit, was happy to work with talented cheaper younger players and improve them, system covered up weaknesses of certain player such as Dele who was played in a free role behind Kane, style of football was great.

It would however require a few things bringing him back.

1 humility from board and to some extent even fans. We fucked up badly and didn’t support him how he need it towards the end. He was right about the need for a rebuild with aging players.

2 better scouting operation, need to be able to get in young players and also accept older players need to be sold and moved on. We should be looking like other top clubs to buy and sell at least 2-3 players every season, constant evolution.
