Kane would be stupid to stay. He's achieved the all time top scorer, and he's not winning a trophy here.

Kane leaving is Levy's worst nightmare. He has been his get out of jail free card for almost a decade. Him leaving would show he has nowhere left to hide. My biggest worry is Levy's ego will takeover, Kane will be forced to stay again, not put 100% in and leave next season for free, and the rebuild has just been delayed again, all for Levy to 'save face'.
This is it. Our entire plan is to appease Kane. Every appointment post Poch except for Nuno has been that. Big name winner that along with some wheeling and dealing in the squad should help Kane (and Son) win a trophy.

We have bought young and promising players recently. But that's more because that is Gabbanini and Paratici's specialities rather than Levy's rebuild plan.

As long as Kane is here Levy will refuse to press the reset button.

My opinion is that Poch would actually be a bad appointment because all he would be is window dressing for the fans.

Nothing would change behind the scenes with him in charge. We would play fun football again most likely but there would be no changes to how Levy goes about things. And then it will collapse again because Poch will not be brought in to do a rebuild, he will be brought in to try and win something with Kane and Son before it is too late. So we will just push all of the problems forward once more.

Poch should be the guy brought back after the core rebuild has taken place. Bring in someone else to bed in the youth and establish a new attacking identity. And if that manager is not a smash hit you bring in Poch in 3ish years when the new core is ready for a title push.

Bringing Poch back now would be purely a emotional appointment, not a logical one.
I do not think that Poch would come back if not promised a full rebuild and being in the driving seat. As long as he is supported behind the scenes with recruitment.

If Poch does not come back now we should all forget about Poch coming back he will not be available forever.

ENIC may not deserve Kane to stay but us the fan base deserve it. Why does any other fan base deserve to see Kane play for them especially since most of them have spent the last ten years insulting him and criticising him when playing for England.
I agree we as fans deserve him to stay , but ENIC who have let him down continually do not in my opinion . Also , admittedly only my opinion I believe he was lied to , he is a model professional but felt so let down that he never came back on time for training . Levy has previous allegedly disingenuous behaviour with players .

So I view it as this , if I was made continual promises in my job that were never fulfilled . If I was made a promise when renewing a contract and it was reneged on , if i only had a few years left at my peak in my job I would leave . So would the vast majority of people , especially if they saw the company they worked for heading down the crapper compared to its rivals

So I will hold no grudges with Harry going , if anyone thinks Levy will be on the morally correct side of his spat with Harry over the City move that is their prerogative . I know whose word I would personally trust out of the two of them and it isn’t the short bald one

Player/manager is our only hope of keeping him?

he's done all he can here pretty much, apart from win a trophy. I'd say he might have decent chance of lifting the Conference cup next season depending on who the coach is.
United going to have spend really big to get him even though he has a year left. But we could really use the money because Porro and Kulu is what £70 million out of the budget?

though it doesnt actually quite work like that as it would be installments over years but of course Levy will see it like that

All very big IFS

But if possible I would go for Ivan Toney , might get him cheap with a ban looking possible . Keep Kane albeit he leaves on a free thereafter . I suspect Toney might accept playing second fiddle to Harry for a short period only. especially if he were to miss a lot of games start of next season
Think they are both very intelligent on the pitch and would probably be able to play together on occasions as well

All ifs , buts and maybe, plus I actually have no credentials to expect this opinion to have any gravitas

No manager can walk into this squad and turn them into winners. They’re losers. The majority of our team are spineless, professional bottle jobs who are stealing a living.

I can think of 5 players who I want to keep, the rest can fuck off. Our problem is so much deeper than the manager issue. Levy/ENIC and the players have so much to answer for.

Never been so depressed when I think about this club. Fucking shambles.
Totally agree

Toney is one of the best strikers in the league. Him and Maddison would go along way to replacing Kane in terms of output.

The thing is does the club think that Kane for one extra season worth more than his transfer fee?

He is more than a player and he may actually stay if things are going well?

All of this is exactly my issue with Poch. That’s not say he’s not a great manager, but I’m just so sick of these band aid fixes to try and appease the fans that keep us treading water.
Just blow it all up and start a proper rebuild. Once we can operate like a club our size should we can look at bring him back.
He clearly loves the club, and deserves to come back to us when the club isn’t in a constant state of fire.

Yea it really would. Getting a single player in to replace his goal tally is next to impossible, but once you start consistently getting goals from your wingers and a player like Maddison that gap is far easier to bridge.
Just imagine the amount of goals we’d score if we properly built a squad around Kane.

I don’t see how they could. Champions League is about the only thing that would bring in a substantial amount of revenue, and at this stage I don’t see how Kane alone will drag the team to that next season.

Was hard to tell especially when skipp went off - was more like 4-1-5 with Perisic and Porro as full backs I thought ardiles was back in charge - all a bit of a mess and proves stellini was a poor choice
It only went that way because Bournemouth just sat in and it was waves of attack. It became a bit of a mess but before richi came on it was Harry up top, deki in behind him,Sonny left and Danjuma right with both full backs getting forward too which is how a 4-2-3-1 should be with two defensive centre midfielders. That would work for us if we had centre midfielders that could pass the ball forward and centre backs that can defend as a two. When skipp went off Harry dropped into an advanced midfield role and it was a free for all at that point.

I call bullshit. Paratici will be having nothing to do with the new manager search whilst he's under investigation.

Sad Doctor Who GIF

he's not been relieved of duties still.
So Perhaps the clubs very expensive lawyers are confident of getting the worldwide ban overtuned if not the italian one.
If Woolwich's lawyers can keep a serial rapist in their starting 11 and out of Prison we should be able to get a little corruption ban overturned

Poch not being under consideration is good. He shouldn't have to come back and be the face of this mess that allows Levy to push on with his negligence of the sporting side of the club.

Poch would be a purely emotional hire to appease the fanbase. Rather than the hard truth of us needing a full on rebuild.

Poch should come back once we are through the first 3 years of the rebuild and we can realistically think about challenging again. But let someone else ride out the bad years.
