So much for just being the custodian of the club for the fans!
Just to ensure I understand, has he ever claimed to be 'custodian of the club for the fans'? If not then I'm sorry but that's just a fantasy notion made up by fans worldwide. He (well, he and and his associates via ENIC) OWN the club, so can pretty much do what they want with it (within the rules / law of course). They've gained that privilege by running businesses well enough (or however you want to phrase it) to amass enough wealth to purchase the club and hence all of its assets, goodwill (

), opportunities etc. It's a myth that club owners owe anything (physically I mean) to fans - they do not.
Of course if fans disagree with what club owners do, they can 'vote with their wallets' (i.e. not spend a penny on the club, inc. junking Sky etc) and/or vote with their feet / voices by protesting, influencing others etc, as some do. If enough people do either to make a difference, then the owners will have to change or sell. If not enough people do that, then the owners will continue as they are. Just the same as with any other business (which is what it is, like it or not). (Note that I'm trying to be careful here to remain neutral - I'm not judging either way - I'm merely pointing out that the fans do not have any direct say in how the club is run, and the owners have no direct obligation to give them one - the owners own the club and so can run it as they wish, irrespective of how little we fans might like it / find it hard to accept).
Of course if any of us has a few billion quid sitting around, the other option is to offer to buy the club - then you can be the owner, and run it as you wish (which I'm sure would please some fans and displease others - this manager hunt discussion alone shows us how impossible it is to please everyone).
