gonna be him aint it

Sure, but unlike Mason, he was always headed towards coaching.
Same as Nagelsmann.
And Mourinho spent a good few years learning his trade under senior coaches like Robson and Van Gaal first.

Mason might be a good coach one day, but not yet.
Not disagreeing but the original point of comparing playing careers is a disingenuous one.
The idea that great players make the best coaches is patently false. If anything, the problem with Hoddle, supposedly, was that he assumed all players could be Hoddlesque in talent and treated them as such.

Add to that he’s played a 3 at the back system at both Brighton and Chelsea.

Potter would be my choice now, but equally would be happy with Slot or Amorim.

As for being in the running, the bookies don’t know anything. DoF is key as they’ll be the one to work with the manager and plan the summer window.
We are definitely a long term project and Potter would be suited to it especially as we dont have the requirements to win like at Chelsea . Think we can get in the top 4 again with Potter in a few years time. But he wouldnt be given the time by Levy. So the future is bleak with the current owners.

I dont think Potter would want to come here. He's an intellegent bloke, doesnt need the money after Chelsea and will know he'd be coming into another fairly toxic environment. He seems the sort that could give football a miss entirely. Plus i dont know if true his agent , who also happens to be Rodgers as well, cant stand Levy.

The question isn't really about the specific formation or current form of the manager's current team, but whether Levy and co actually understand what a good manager looks like. Hiring Mou/Conte on reputation is one thing but what the fuck was going on with the likes of Nuno? What did they see in him?

Could the board really tell you what makes each of our prospective managers good or bad? Based on past form I'm not so sure.

You would think, but managers aren't like that. They have a huge ego and want to work and win.

Possibly but he doesnt seem to have much of an ego. He seems quite a bit different from most managers. Anyway i doubt we'd go for him and i doubt he'd want to come here (cue Potter appoined by Wednesday)
Didn't he reject us and basically think that he was too good for us when he hadn't really done anything of note?

I actually think he'd be a good fit but I wouldn't take him just for that and because there are other decent options available.
