This is the issue that seems to be getting swept under the rug.

Seems the club is acting like you just snap your fingers and unwind the appointments of Jose and Conte.

There are players that came to the club for both Jose or Conte and were sold the story of matching the ambitions of both those two serial winners. We had Paratice enforcing standards and spending big on the way the team travels etc

Now you want to just flip to hiring a project manager and being the plucky underdog again?

Doesn't work that way unless you fully clear house and start again.

I don’t think anyone is saying there is a quick fix. Rebuilding the sporting identity and values of the club will take time. Time that a “big name” will not want to spend here, time that the fans will not give them.

It might be an oversimplification but the world of football seems to have accepted the distinction between a “project” manager and a “winning” manager. We have done horrendously with the latter and need to try again with the former. In this moment we need to be humble and grasp the nettle, not continue with our delusions of grandeur just because Beyoncé came to our stadium.

Personally I’m quite excited about the prospect on Ange. Everything I’ve read makes him a good fit. Attacking football, likes to unearth players and gives youth a chance, exactly what we used to do well and made us exciting.

I think too many fans focus on the name a lot now over what the manager can offer. If it is Ange then he has my full support and belief.

''Some hasty Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to organise an aggressive campaign to prevent the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.''

Source - the internet.

Ok, so it's not a quick fix.

Fine, makes sense to me. It takes time to change the culture.

As long as everyone understands that this is what this could be. A season of Top 8 ish, could be 10th, could be 6th, with the budget decreased and the kind of players brought in being younger and with lower profiles.

Meanwhile, teams we used to compete with or consider rivals, like Woolwich, will be bringing in the likes of Rice or similar for 100m and maybe winning the league.

If that is communicated honestly to the fans then everyone can choose if they are into it. If the team is fun to watch and the talent brought in/through looks like it could compete in 2-3 years then I could be on board with the project.

BUT if you don't bring in a Sports Director to build the squad and do decide to build everything around this coach and it doesn't work. For example, if we finish 10th or lower and it doesn't really look like the talent in the squad has the potential to compete in 2-3 years?

What happens then?

Btw I think Postecoglou looks and sounds like a great coach. Better than Brendan. My issue is the club not having any kind of professional structure or clear ambition in place and just leaning on a big character to dig them out of the mess.

I really don't think any manager can be judged by how they have done in Scotland.

It's a well known fact that the 2006 Scottish Prem title was won by Celtic with a lost pigeon in charge.

H0pe you get Brendon Rodgers... Ange is too ggood for Spuds

Top 8?

I’d take that in a heartbeat.

What this could be is us sitting in 14th at Xmas and Ange getting the sack. At some point we are going to have to come to terms with the state of this squad.

Doesn’t matter who the manager is.
