Best explaination of Tottenham's situation.

⚠️ Warning to all Levy Lovers. The story you are about to hear may cause extreme Trauma. Viewers discretion is advised

Bit dramatic for me.

It’s a mess, Levy is incompetent but the fact that a coach like Luís Enrique is hanging around in case we appoint him, and Nagelsmann didn’t publicly turn us down even though we apparently didn’t want him, tells you that there are plenty of managers that want the job.

Levy needs to make serious changes though.

I very much doubt Naglesmann is interested . Only my opinion , but just cos he did not dignify Levy’s attributed “ we don’t want him “ embarrassing public statement with a reply , does not mean he didn’t tell Levy to jog on . He is not working for Levy and I don’t blame him .

There were definitely public takes from journalists saying he wanted the job.

Romano even said he was focused on getting it.

Wenger went to Japan after he'd managed Ligue 1 clubs Nancy & Monaco (where he won the league), so no comparison there really.
Neil Lennon won the SPL 3 times while Ronny Deila won it 2 times with Celtic. Just saying.
Erm, no it's very comparable when you look at the French league at that time. Little bit of history homework for you.

BTW, well done for posting something that wasn't a copy & paste. 👍🏻

Uh, what?

The period Wenger was managing in France was the peak of that league relative to the rest of Europe basically ever, including their only European Cup win. Monaco made the Cup Winner's Cup final under him.

And the Japanese league he went to was sort of the Saudi Arabia of its day.

I will be happy with either Luis Enrique, or Ange Postecoglu, or hell, even Gallardo, but for fuck's sake, I will not abide Brendan fucking Rodgers. I don't care if he's competent, I will not abide being managed by a character from The Office.

Nagelsmann was interested. Unfortunately he's know to be one that does things on his terms. Luis Enrique on the other hand was always a stretch to me. I don't for one minute Eric Dier, Davies....hell the whole Spurs team, can dream of playing Tika Taka. Turning out players into overnight Man City.....not gonna happen. I don't think that even Levy is stupid enough to attempt that.

Squad is better suited to LE than Postecoglou.

He plays wing backs for a start.

We’d need new CBs and GK for any coach,

I broadly agree with Nate on this. Someone not a DoF has at least gotten through to Levy that Fabio's ideas about managers were rubbish and has been finding the right kinds of people. So, all the structure changes in the background this year seem to have started to produce results, even if it's not fully operational yet.

Get in the new manager, work with him to evaluate the current squad, and add in the DoF when you can, and everyone is broadly on the same page already. Everyone knows the squad is a train wreck, and everyone agrees we need to get rid of a lot of people. And with the the managerial candidates all wanting to press and play possession-heavy football, you will have a pretty similar list of guys to keep and transfers to make, even if the order of preferred players might vary slightly.

And Daniel Levy is out of the loop on all of that. Even if the budget isn't perfect, it's the kind of situation that will work.

I don't think Luis Enrique would have any illusions that it would be an overnight change. If he is willing to accept that it will be a big rebuild that will take time and he will not have instant gratification, it can work. He at least will be happy to work with the Bryan Gils of the world, and that's at least part of the solution right there.

He's obviously not a perfect candidate, but no one is. That being said, he seems to really want to be in England, and seems to at least understand that instant gratification is not on the menu.

All pretty much guesswork, isn’t it?
Nagelsmann probably doesn’t have enough stature in the bank to fuck up his next move. He’s never coached outside of Germany, punched above his weight at second-tier (and below) clubs but won nothing with them and got fired from the only team that matters in his homeland after a pretty short duration. I don’t know that he can afford to take a risk on his next job — and we ( where managerial reputations/ aspirations go to die) are a huge risk. He could easily become yesterday’s man (or Graham Potter as I like to call him) if his next appointment goes tits up. My guess is he wants a better (safer?) option.

So is this the guy then?

Sarcastic Tim And Eric GIF
Cretinous outside his Wrestling “Event”

We do not have the centre backs to push up and hold a higher line. We will get slaughtered.

Romero could just about do it, although I wouldn’t trust him. Dier and Lenglet would get eviscerated. So any attempt to play a more aggressive brand of football will require a new CB (ideally a good one).
You'd hope regardless of the manager 2 new CBs and a new GK has to come in.

That'll be PSG then

Nobody should be happy to work with the Bryan Gills of this world. He is bang average
