Nobody should be happy to work with the Bryan Gills of this world. He is bang average
I don't think he is. I think he was not very well suited to a Conte team, and also that he was ignored because Conte was an idiot who thought size was a substitute for talent.

I think he is a very good creative passer who could, under a competent coach, be a very useful part of the Spurs squad.

Erm, no it's very comparable when you look at the French league at that time. Little bit of history homework for you.

BTW, well done for posting something that wasn't a copy & paste. 👍🏻
Seriously? You seem to know very little about French football at the time if you compare managing Monaco, and winning Ligue 1 and taking them to the CL semis (at a time when French did very well, Marseille winning the 92-93 CL and French winning the WC in 1998) to managing Brunswick Juventus FC, , Melbourne Victory FC, Brisbane Roar FC :D
I pointed out that both Neil Lennon & Ronny Deila also won the SPL, but you wouldn't hire any of them even though they won the SPL 5 times between them (Lennon won the treble). Is it because they didn't go to the J2 League afterward maybe

We are going to end up with Allardyce aren’t we?
Well he is apparently up there with Pep and Klopp!!

Sam Allardyce England GIF

I broadly agree with Nate on this. Someone not a DoF has at least gotten through to Levy that Fabio's ideas about managers were rubbish and has been finding the right kinds of people. So, all the structure changes in the background this year seem to have started to produce results, even if it's not fully operational yet.

Get in the new manager, work with him to evaluate the current squad, and add in the DoF when you can, and everyone is broadly on the same page already. Everyone knows the squad is a train wreck, and everyone agrees we need to get rid of a lot of people. And with the the managerial candidates all wanting to press and play possession-heavy football, you will have a pretty similar list of guys to keep and transfers to make, even if the order of preferred players might vary slightly.

And Daniel Levy is out of the loop on all of that. Even if the budget isn't perfect, it's the kind of situation that will work.

I’ve wondered a few times how we are actually picking these managerial choices. Slot was pretty much an out of the blue choice, as is potecoglou but at least with him you could suggest it’s the agent links. But they seem to have been big choices since the start and no way Levy knows who they are let alone is picking them. So where did their selection come from? Maybe the new recruitment team decided on them based on new selection criteria because they definitely aren’t paratici choices (eg. Enrique) or Levy’s (Nagelsmann).

It’s pretty important to know how they are being selected but as usual with us, all there is, is secrecy around the whole appointment. Hopefully we get some news on how he was selected in due course, but I very much doubt it.

All pretty much guesswork, isn’t it?
Nagelsmann probably doesn’t have enough stature in the bank to fuck up his next move. He’s never coached outside of Germany, punched above his weight at second-tier (and below) clubs but won nothing with them and got fired from the only team that matters in his homeland after a pretty short duration. I don’t know that he can afford to take a risk on his next job — and we ( where managerial reputations/ aspirations go to die) are a huge risk. He could easily become yesterday’s man (or Graham Potter as I like to call him) if his next appointment goes tits up. My guess is he wants a better (safer?) option.
Agree with that but it’s not in keeping with our unnecessary, we never wanted him and never even spoke to him narrative , another Levy PR disaster masterclass

I saw that thread and didn’t really understand his point.

Basically we are looking at a couple of his hipster choices that play Diet Pep ball and that’s the only style he likes to analyze so it’s good.

Conte was one that Levy pushed for even more than Paratici.

I have no idea what is similar about Tuchel, LE, and Conceicao? Except that they all play a different style to Pep.

I think he is pointing out that at least we have settled on a style of play and are looking for managers that fit within that criteria, where as the 3 Paratici recommend are nothing alike, so is completely haphazard and clueless.

The squad rebuild Paratici was doing fit Conte but already has some key pieces for a LE team. Can fully see why he would be headed to LE of the available coaches.

Would fit Nagelsmann much quicker too.

We are about to go a completely different direction again so we can be like Pep because that’s fashionable. Just not quite as good as Pep.

Not what he’s after.

Reports are he feels he went to a super club too early at Bayern.

He’s literally at the perfect stage of his career trajectory for Spurs.

This is why our 'search' is so frustrating, you have the ideal candidate available who is actually interested and not using us in order to get a contract extension, and yet because this would potentially lead to Levy having less say in football matters, we can't get the deal done and instead the latest name is an Aussie that nobody in the UK had heard of two years ago and whose big claim to fame is winning some trophies with Celtic. I could win trophies managing Celtic!

So when Ange ends up staying on at Celtic, we'll probably then have the Enrique rumours or maybe Potter will re-enter the frame and around we go again.

When was Conte sacked? Feels like a lifetime ago. Joke owners, joke club.

Fully agree on the first part.

Don’t have the same concerns about Ange for his track record or ability.

It’s just a fucking random arse about face from one squad construction to another and they still haven’t put any structure in place for the football dept. No DOF, Sports Director, no plan, just get a new manager in.

If it fails Levy will just blame Ange line he has everyone else.

I really don't think any manager can be judged by how they have done in Scotland.

It's a well known fact that the 2006 Scottish Prem title was won by Celtic with a lost pigeon in charge.
You’re right - like Paul heckingbottom absolute toilet at Hibs and sacked. Then gets job at sheff utd and gets them into the premier league (also fairly easily knocking us out the cup this season)

You sound surprised by this. We've always done it, Graham to Hoddle, Santini to Jol, Redknapp to AVB, Poch to Mourinho. There has never been a plan or structure, we just stumble around with Levy changing his mind with the wind and whichever agent has his ear at a given time. Occasionaly we get lucky but there is no planning behind it. The only time we have had continuity of sorts is Mourinho, Nuno, Conte and its been shit so we have no option but to change it.
