Probably a relief for a fair few.

That's a decent marriage I'd think.
Obviously Enrique coached Messi to great success, but PSG will be better able to move forward without him.
FYPI wonder how many games those slating Ange Postecoglou have actually watched...![]()

See thats a decent fit. He never was for us. We better hope Postecoglou happens now though or we're in Marco Silva, Brendan Rodgers territory.
Imagine comparing ten Hag with this Postegluglu guy. I would say Eredivisie is more competitive than EPL but if that’s not a debate, at least ten Hag has got great results in Europe, a few seconds away from reaching a UCL final. You’d think after our own experience with Poch and the job that a relative unknown like De Zerbi has done this season fans would be a bit more willing to give someone like Ange a chance. The manager trying to do a cup double for United today only ever managed in a weak league but so what?

Postegluglu has won the Kangaroo league and got smashed by Real Madrid and Leipzig in UCL group stage. But at least he played aTtAcKiNg FoOtBaLl
Still think the majority of the fan reaction aimed at Ange is because it's not Nagelsmann and deep down, most of us think the reason it wouldn't be Nagelsmann is because of the things that we'd all like to see change at the club anyway.
They are thinking that Ange represents the Levy choice who will accept Levy and Munn making the calls and be happy to work with a less ambitious transfer spend and wage bill.
Could be they were wrong about Ange but really the frustration isn't for him, it's for the club.
Bang on.He manages Celtic, what results are you expecting them to get in the CL against much richer teams? Celtic is Celtic. They are never going to be able to compete with elite teams in Europe.
Eddie Howe got relegated with Bournemouth and most of this board sneered when we were linked with him 2 years ago, are they sneering now? Bournemouth are Bournemouth. They were always going to get relegated eventually. They don’t have the resources not to get relegated eventually.
Instead of focusing on what clubs the next manager has on their CV, we should be looking at their personality and their principles of football most importantly. That is where we have gone badly wrong in the last 4 years. Hiring managers who are too combustible (or boring in Nuno’s case) and who play negative football. The next manager has got to have an idea that is appropriate for Tottenham, not Chelsea or Real Madrid.
I don’t expect them to beat Real Madrid or some other top teams in Europe, but I expected them to overachieve, if the manager’s so good as he’s hyped. They couldn’t even beat Shakhtar. He manages Celtic, what results are you expecting them to get in the CL against much richer teams? Celtic is Celtic. But we did pretty poor in our recent European competitions with managers that did well during their careers.I don’t expect them to beat Real Madrid or some other top teams in Europe, but I expected them to overachieve, if the manager’s so good as he’s hyped. They couldn’t even beat Shakhtar.
And I don’t care about the CV, I care how a manager did his work throughout his career. To me, this Celtic manager doesn’t stand out in any single way.
It’s good to hear him speak openly like this and, under the right circumstances, he’s clearly an excellent manager. He’s also charismatic, and you can see why players would love him.
But we conceded 63 goals last season, placing us 15th in terms of GA.
I’m not convinced that an ultra attacking coach is the right call. There has to be some sort of pragmatism applied.
The rotting corpse of Elvis would be a success at Celtic. Maybe even more so.Bang on.
And the thing about Celtic is that it just limits how translatable we can count on Ange's tactics and methods to be. It's a less classy level of football.
But as you say, that should be weirdly misconstrued into an argument that he hasn't been a success at Celtic. He absolutely has.
Can those attributes be translated to the Premier League? We'll find out. He's a Guardiola-influenced coach, but even Pep himself faced a learning curve in England.
So what’s that supposed to prove? But we did pretty poor in our recent European competitions with managers that did well during their careers.
It's early days yet, but it's most certainly possible that the club are in the first stages of getting the plan in place. Whether you accept that possibility or not will all depend on your own ideas about our upper management. Totally understandable as, since Poch, we have looked like we're lurching from one "quick fix" to another.
I'd like to think that the club have now decided upon an ethos and are in the process of getting the personnel in to make the vision a reality. Only time will tell really.
One of the things Ange is lauded for us the way he manages the set up of the playing side from top to bottom. He's said himself that he's responsible for this, which is something we've never really had, even with Poch.
It's not the responsibility of the DoF to provide this vision, that's primarily the Chairman. It is the responsibility of the DoF to make the vision real, but that is never in isolation. If the Chairman's vision is for us to build a proper structure, with the club at all levels delivering the same brand of Football, he doesn't have to wait for a DoF to tell him this is how it will be done, if he finds a manager that has previously delivered exactly that type of remit.
You then interview prospective DoF's, tell them this is the vision, this is how we're delivering it, can you get on board with that? If it's a yes, how do you plan to do so?
If his ideas align you employ him, if they don't then you don't. DoF and manager don't need to be linear appointments like some on here seem to believe.
None of the above absolves the club from spending what is required to get the right players to fit that ethos, particularly as we have more FFP wriggle room than any other 2 clubs combined. This is where the DoF has to come into his own. The manager can restructure the Football side, first team, academy etc, but the DoF is the one to restructure our scouting department so that we're identifying those players that fit what the club wants. If the manager is aligned with the ethos, we won't get the kind of shite that Conte pulled about "club signings." EVERY signing should be a club signing because everyone is pulling in the same direction.
I'll be seen as naive by some, batshit crazy by others, and correct by those who think similarly to me. There'll also be those on the fence. All irrelevant really as it's just an opinion.
I get the feel that you're one of those that are on the fence, but teetering towards the abyss. Believe me, I know how you feel there, and I'm on record as stating that this Summer is what will either have me joining the ENIC out brigade, or optimistically looking forward to next season. For me, Ange would be the start of that, but I still expect the club to get him in exactly what he requires to hit the ground running. I don't think we're looking at a wholesale change, as I think there are more than a few in the squad that'll take to his Football like a duck to water, but changes are needed.
Regardless of who the player is, whether he's valued at £100M or £10M, if they are identified as being the best fit for the ethos then get them. I don't care who they are, unknown or superstar, so long as they're the right player.
This is why I'm on the precipice. Do the above and I'll start regaining some sense of belief in what the club is trying to do. Don't do it and I'll wash my hands of our leadership.
