I mean there's talent but these players are exceptions really.
They aren’t - there’s quite a few decent PL players that have come thru…. Maguire, Pickford, Olise, Guehi, Eze, Raya, Vardt, Wharton etc etc

Take any of them over the Nbodies we sign from abroad. Inwould be happy never to sign another foreigner, unless they are Argentinian. Do something different - build a platform for Argies and promising yoots. Simplify the strategy. Sign the 3 best championship players every season

These are all exceptions, how many of our big 6 rivals are signing lower league players who go on to be stars? Not many.

We need to recruit better that doesn't mean we only fish in the lower leagues for players.

We don’t pay the wages or agents of our peers so should take a different strategy. The last 7 years show that - disaster.

We can bully in other ponds…. Give youngsters a chance. No shit from France or Africa, or Portugal etc, the best won’t join us. maybe target Italy, Argentina and Champo exclusively

We have bullied in other ponds (Gray, Odobert,Spence) and look how they've turned out so far.

The issue isn't where we rectuit so to speak, we need to get our house in order first in terms of profiling the right players and then having an actual plan for them, we could sign the next Bowen or Olise for example but these guys aren't levelling up at this club in this culture the way they have improved at their clubs.

We need a consistent recruitment plan first and then we will be more successful shopping in whatever pond we see fit, shopping exclusively in the lower leagues isn't the key to our turnaround trust me.

I disagree but thanks for the salad

I never understood why our Poch / Ossie etc connections never got us more than Lamela , Foyth and Lo Celso ; from that part of the world ( and I’m talking Argentina, Uruguay , Chile etc ) .

Obviously there are scouts from all over Europe recruiting ( and often ruining) players from South America ; but nevertheless I thought we might have benefited from a few connections and a bit of local knowledge . Ah well .

I think during our peak decade of recruitment from about 2006-2016 - when we got guys like Lennon, Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Eriksen, Alli, Son, Dembele, etc - we were one of the more modern, better run clubs with the most sophisticated recruitment strategy. We started using data and hiring sporting directors before 90% of clubs in the league and Levy was actually ahead of the curve.

Now we're the opposite. Clubs like Brighton, Brentford, Palace and Bournemouth are identifying and signing the guys we used to sign. That leaves us in this weird limbo: we don't offer top wages to get the very best players, and we're being outflanked by smarter, smaller clubs at signing up-coming talent.

We either need to act like a big club and start offering proper wages to attract the best talent, or we need to get a lot smarter and not rely on dickheads like Lange to identify the right younger talent with clear pathways to minutes. No more of this opportunistic bollocks or signing second rate cast-offs.

Levy always wanted us to operate like Dortmund so you can see why ENIC would want to continue that. They think bringing the bloke in from there will do it despite him recruiting there unlike anything else they’d actually done previously. Can connect the dots on the stupidity a mile off.

Even if we doubled our wages we'd still recruit stupidly, we offered Gallagher £200k a week for example.

Dortmund have done Ok recently, they’re never really gonna compete with Bayern, so they’ve done as well as they can. So why do Dortmund hate Kehl?

Guirassy was someone I was desperate to sign before he went there, so my limited knowledge of him doesn’t scare me.

From Dortmund fans online, seems like they view him similarly to Lange. A lot of his signings haven't really come off apparently, not by Dortmund standards at least, and the squad building has been incoherent. A handful stand up for him but the majority really don't like the job he's done.

The main praise was for his capacity to sell players for good money so at least that will come in useful if he comes.

But they have. They finished 2nd. I don’t get it.
