Varies from person to person and we don't know how he thinks, but the more general point is that it can be perfectly reasonable for someone to turn an insane amount of blood money down, doesn't make you an idiot.

Also, one of the best footballers on the planet shouldn't be anywhere near an absolute non-league, even for one season, but that's just my opinion.

Mate he had a chance to leave PSG on a free before but took all that money to stay for 2 more years. He will go.

And the Saudis would be paying 1b for a single season. Surely not.

Depends how much cash-value they would be attributing to it as a publicity stunt, I guess.

It's all very well pulling a stunt like this to get eyes on the product for a year, but if the product is shit when those eyes arrive; they won't stick around for too long.

he is 24 he has loads of time and he has already won trophies and proved himself. It’s basically half a billion to play 1 season then get his dream Real Madrid move.

It'd be interesting on that front.... Personally; I don't think players can just turn it off and on like a tap....... I'd expect a year out of high end and competitive football to have an effect.

To be fair the amount of players they are bringing in the quality won't be that bad, probably better than the French league :ange-lol:

I feel like the football market is pretty saturated.

Messi, neymar and mbappe hasn't gotten me to watch any Uber eats ligue 1. Won't get me to watch the Saudi league either.

There is literally not enough time to watch your favourite league, cl and another league.

Even if you had the time, just how much football can a person watch?

It's more of a punt on those countries that haven't got their own high-end league, than a grab to get the UK EPL viewers, Spanish La Liga viewers etc...... A grab for the casual's money; the kind that barely watch for anyone other than the mega-star players(*) or a favourite countryman; as well as the corporate 'entertainment' tourists that may visit Saudi once a year to watch a match.

On that basis I'd be curious about the veiwing increase figures for both Messi in France & Ronaldo in Saudi..... I mean; did their international faboys rush to watch them play in these respective leagues?

But again; sports-washing and cultivating a bigger slice of the corporate entertainment industry is what's at play here.

Might make a nice change to the Mbappe Ninja Turtle meme:

Shocked PSG would take such a small fee :levywhoa:

On a side note PSG are going to have so much funds to buy which they kind of do already.

Christ almighty... £259m for a human being FOOTBALLER!

The world is genuinely FUCKED!

*Half of it is burning, the other *half is burning cash, and the other *half hopes the remaining three quarters burns for not believing in their poxy version of a make believe God, yet will spend obscene amounts of money that could probably feed half the globe for years!!

We're a fucking mess!

*Fractions were never my strong point.... But my POINT still stands!!

Simply fcuking immoral and instead of the complicit football authorities doing something about this sh!t, it completely threatens the very essence of competition, taking it to another level.

Fcuking shameful.

And it's not even about foorball but effing power.

Football is trying really hard to implode itself. You can see why fans will just give up on it, I am finding it harder to care anymore. Should have just gone ahead with the super league. The club's took so much flack over it but it looks like players are just starting their own super league instead. Players like neves and saint maximan are more interested in a fat pay cheque than actually creating any legacy for themselves. Players in their prime. You can understand someone fancying a big pay cheque, but seriously, these guys are already on huge money, millionaires all of them.
Nuke the TV deals, cap the salaries and let's get back to a game for the people, not the obscenely rich wankfest it has become
