I'm making a point that the squad and setup sucks, and throwing two good players in there doesn't automatically equal goals and success.

Cunha and Mbuemo clearly have bags of talent. I won't begrudge them a payday, but for both to go to United in the prime of their careers seems like an awful waste.
If adding two players who've scored 30 non pen goals this season doesn't equal goals, I'd like to know what does.

Chelsea got 4th with 64 goals scored.

Cunha and Mbeumo get Utd to 70 goals next season. I'm expecting them to do a lot better with only 1 game a week as well so they should also improve defensively.

That's enough for top 4.
But Chelsea are spending big.. city are spending huge sums, liverpool too, Woolwich have 300m to spend.... who are they getting top 4 over? Because all those teams will significantly improve too.

They could finish 5th maybe. They still have a crap Midfield but they can beat teams on the transition

TBF people would complain if we signed players this week anyway - they'd see it as a sign we're backing Ange, and if we then sacked Ange after signing someone they'd say we were incompetent.

It is quite prudent to see where the dust lays, player/transfer wise, after this inaugural "club world cup" is over. See who the manager is going to be, who the board are going to be, if anyone is going to buy Richarlison etc.
Completely agree. Nice to see some other sensible logical posts on here. Its clear there something significant going on at the club, huge changes top to bottom, no new manager yet etc. We need to get all that sorted then we can focus on buying players. Im sure we are already working on a number of outs etc.

It is yes, but I guess it depends on how theyve sold the project. If theyve said oh we will sign you two, we are getting Gyokeres in... thats an elite in theory front 3, they have Amad at RWB who is incredibly dangerous, a good young LWB in dorgu, some other good young talents. They need a top CM as well, but I guess if they have buyers for bruno, rashford and sancho thats huge wages shifted, and big money coming in as well. Those 3 and a top Cm and I think they will look good.

He's exactly the sort of player we should've gone for... Then again I said that about Adama Traore!!

If we weren't in the running for Eze, I'd say we missed out here...

But summit tells me the CL upgrade will reflect in the targets we DO actually go for.
This fills me with mire confidence that Eze might be more realistic than if we'd lost the Final.

Fuck there have to be SOME other advantages to show for it, other than a Shiny trophy and a Bus parade??!!!!!

Blimey, he's aged!!!!
Did WE do that to him??
Not sure I agree on Cunha. Hes another by all accounts absolute c*nt to add to their dressing room full of egos, he doesnt work hard, he doesnt press, I think theres a reason no other big clubs wanted him despite his output. I wouldnt get your hopes up on Eze, apparently Bayern want him.

Cunha has massively overperformed his expected goals and Mbuemo is coming off his first great season in 6 with Brentford. And the latter's partnership with Yoan Wissa can't be understated either.

They'll score some goals, obviously, but your suggestion that Man Utd will be in the top 4 on their signing is laughable. I'd be more likely to believe it if they also signed a world class 6 to do all the dirty work that no one else does in that team.

He did knock that Ipswich coaches glasses off too!

....and didn't he only JUST do the internationally recognised: "I'm here, I'm staying" gesture when he scored for Wolves recently??

Prick!
