When I saw ETH had been sacked I just assumed they had been firmly dicked down in all 3 of their games so far, I get he's widely panned as a joke of a manager in England now but tbh I think it reflects very poorly on Leverkusen to be ditching a manager 3 games into his tenure when he's only lost 1 of those games, if you had this little faith in the guy that such a small sample size (which doesn't even look particularly horrifying in the first place) was encouragement enough to bin him off, what the fuck were you doing hiring him in the first place?

I applaud Leverkusen for not messing around here. Even though they have sold top tier talent they are still ambitious and still want to compete... they made a huge mistake hiring him but at least they didn't sit there procrastinating whilst the team fails. They did something about it. I wonder how much ETH has earnt in redundancy fees recently. He must be laughing all the way to the bank. Guarantee some other muppets appoint him their manager before the end of the year.

What are Leipzig up to this season. Sesko, Simons and Openda all gone this window is insane
This is RBL's MO in the market tbf, they hoover up a load of young talent across Europe on good value deals and flip them on for massive profit, they always have so many players coming in every summer there are 1 or 2 always ready to step in when the next big money sale is lined up. They sold Gvardiol, Szoboslai and Nkunku in one window 2 seasons ago as welll.

IMO Newcastle have been fleeced replacing Isak. Two guys for the money they got for Isak essentially.

55m for a 28yo whose 20 goals last season is by far his best tally in his career and 5 years ago was in Ligue 2.

70m for Woltemade with a total of 14 top flight goals to his name is a big risk. Could easily be a Havertz/Werner big priced flop.

Woltemade may take a couple of seasons to start making a full impact at Newcastle but Wissa IMO is smart business that takes the pressure off him making an immediate impact. I think they were smart to pull out of Strand Larsen at similar money because he's likely as good as he'll ever be, £70m for Woltemade has gargantuan potential upside where they're flipping him for an Isak fee in 2-3 yrs time, he's an absolute physical specimen and incredibly technically gifted at his size, reminds me a LOT of Zlatan. Big risk but huge potential reward there IMO, the best a club like Newcastle could possibly do to buy a player capable of developing into an Isak replacement.

Hard to get elite strikers I mean Gyokeres and Sesko might end up as flops. Players like Isak or even better Kane are rare hence the fees involved. It’s huge money just for a risk let alone a guarantee.

Great deal for Newcastle. They didn't have much of a leverage there, but managed it really well.

Had they not sold him the choice would have been between letting Isak rot, and him causing great drama in the process, and having him half arse it on the pitch. Lose-lose.

It sucks that he eventually got his way though. Hope he doesn't set a precedent for other players to follow.

Liverpool's transfer activity this summer is simply frightening.

Utterly off the scal,e, even taking account of the money they have received.

Slot has been backed more than any other manager I can recall, other than Guardiola and Moyrinho, when he first joined filth club.

Just staggering.

Guardiola has to be wondering because Guehi, the left back Liverpool signed and even Wirtz must surely have been of interest.

Guehi if it happens is as big as Isak. He walks into the City backline and although it would annoy deluded gooners he walks into the Woolwich backline. IMO only VVD is a better CB in the league on form and now they have both.

You’d have to go back to Ferdinand and Stam or Terry and Carvalho to think of a pairing at that level.

Supposedly it is less the results and more that he has apparently made an enemy of the entire board that's led to the sack.

City yes, 100%. Woolwich I dont think so.

Guehi is very good though. Real ease about he plays.

Van Dijk can only have another season or 2 at a push. Clever signing but the lack of competition for Guehi's signature is baffling..

I get the impression Liverpool went strong early and he wanted no one else. We apparently put a bid or ask in and he said no. He just wanted Liverpool.
