Looks like Isak is staying then. Ekitike is a fantastic player though very similar to Isak, brilliantly hold up play perfect for the likes of Salah and Writz to play off. I would love us to have got him.

Nah I really ain't bothered. He did well at Frankfurt but was awful at PSG, where his attitude & overinflated ego stank up the place...own teammates & fans hated him.

Yeah, Liverpool are really struggling.
Eyeroll Ugh GIF

Not sure where I said they were struggling... :ange-lips:

Tragedy of Jota aside, they are absolutely hammering the transfer market.

No long term for Van Dijk (as yet), could well be their undoing at some point, but on paper, and at this moment, they must he the team that if you are above, you probably win both the PL and the CL.

People always judge things that way on paper, but making lots of changes to a squad in one hit is very rarely something that spurns success. Usually small tweaks are more successful (see: Liverpool last season)

Hanging onto Salah and Van Dijk reflects exactly that insight, no?

A lot of continuity there, supplemented by an excellent addition (or two) to change the mix enough to prevent it going stale.

Obviously the tragedy affects and destabilizes all of the best laid plans there, but the theory seems exactly right.

Not sure - VVD is now 34, so I expect him to have a drop off in ability soon enough.

They've seen TAA leave, Quansah gone, Kelleher gone, and are apparently pushing Harvey Elliot out, That's a lot of club-trained HG players going in mostly the defensive area.

So far they've brought in a LB (Kerkez) a RB (Frimpong), a CM (Wirtz), Marmadashvilli is finally coming in (GK), unfortuntely there's the Jota situation, and Diaz is wanted enthusiastically by Bayern.

So still no real replacement so far for VVD, Salah stays but the rest of the 11 around them look like they're going to change. It's a lot of squad faffing

I'm interested to see how he does in the mighty PL, considering he's at a team that should struggle...but mainly play on the counter, which should suit his skillset.

He was very good in Serie A before Sassuolo got relegated. Was pretty surprised he stayed put. Big jump now going from Serie B to the PL.
Some cracking talent in Serie B.

I'd quite like someone from the Premier League to have a go at Salvatore Esposito from Spezia, who's been fantastic in Serie B for a few seasons now. Spotted him a while back and he still looks like he has really good potential.
