Yet they act like they're a much bigger club than us (although to be fair so do most of the UK media too).
I kinda feel sorry for Newcastle on this Isak thing, it's another example of the media tapping up/unsettling players for the benefit of certain clubs, we know it well with Kane, before that Bale and even before that Berbatov.
IMO the media, especially the BBC and Sky putting out "stories" like this without even direct quotes from the player in question is something that really needs to be investigated and regulated against.
For example, the BBC's headline right now is "Isak wants to explore move away from Newcastle" with absolutely no recent quotes regarding that from Newcastle or Isak himself.

They’re not being tapped up on behalf of those clubs, it’s because those clubs were actually in for them. At the end of the day, if the reliable sources are reporting it, there’s truth to it. It’s not some grand conspiracy.
I’m not sure why you (or others who say this) actually expect Isak, or any player at that, to genuinely come out and give direct quotes; look at the example of Rose’s interview with the Sun as to why it’s a stupid idea.
Understanding is that ISAK has turned down a contract extension with Newcastle - but he still does have 3 years remaining on his deal.
I suspect Isak and his agent see $$$ signs in a transfer now whilst his stock is high. Shortly to turn 26, its prime time for them to cash in the golden goose.

It’s because they are the only show in town up there and it’s like an echo chamber, they genuinely believe they are a massive club.
In reality they are on a par with West Ham in modern football times - maybe slightly ahead as they have played Champions league, although the Spammers won the European papa johns trophy

I'd certainly argue that Newcastle are a bigger club than West Ham. At least Newcastle can claim some historical success, albeit even further in the past than our own glory days.

Not likely but there are some rays of hope
1. Nunez smashed up the Portuguese League and he's proven to be utter garbage in the PL
2. He was outscored by Chuba Akpom of Boro in his best Championship Season
3. Outside Sporting, Benfica and maybe Porto the other teams in Portugal are cannon fodder. I doubt any of us can name another three outside the three I've just mentioned. These other clubs are similar size to our league one sides. Take Santa Clara. They just finished 5th. Their record signing is 1.5m euros, their ground is 12,500 and their revenue is less than 5m a year.
I might be clutching at straws but there is definitely flop potential - no doubt in a better team he will get chances but there is no cannon fodder in the PL. Teams in the lower half and even those fighting relegation are well drilled and can frustrate the bigger sides with low block game plans executed by much better players than you'll see in the Portuguese League.
