Player Pape Sarr

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Didn’t say we didn’t develop him but he was always gonna be a star as Harry Redknapp has since said himself. He was just too fantastic a talent and physical athlete not to be. None of your examples have been recent which is the point I was making.
Fair, we don't have a great recent track record, but who does in this league?

We haven't done it recently because we stepped away from that model for a few years. You could also say that with the likes of Chelsea and City hoovering up all the most talented, then stockpiling them to stagnate in their reserves, reduced the chances of finding those talents that we could develop to WC or elite level.

It seems we're looking to rekindle our young talent buying policy, and this kid looks like he has the potential to be one of the best. When we do get this kind of talent, if the right mentality is there, then we generally do turn them into top quality players, moreso than most in England I believe.

Signing them is only half the job though. The difficult thing is making sure they are developed to their full potential and we don’t have a great recent track record at that (Foyth,Clarke, Sessegnon etc)
Very true words but with Sarr probably is the best decision to leave him on loan at Metz this season after the strides he made last season and Spurs don’t interfere too much with the development he has been making there since forcing his way into the first team

Dier and Dele could have been flipped for 130M a few years ago…. We’ve had such success with hoovering up young lads, no idea why we’ve stopped. Bale, Lennon, Dawson before

missed out on a 1/4 of the Eng squad who came through the championship
The reason we stopped was that fans and pundits and eventually players started demanding trophies, despite us not being ready for that step up.

Eriksen I'll give you, though he was still raw, young and came out of the Dutch league, which a few on here don't think too highly of.

But behave on Bale. He was a kid when we got him for £8M and had such a poor start with us, Redknapp was contemplating farming him out on loan. However, we stuck with him, gave him the platform and he developed into a World Class player under our guidance.

As has been mentioned previously too, Lennon, Walker, Rose are further evidence that we can and do nurture young talent into World Class Footballers (OK not Lennon on the WC ability but you get my drift). You could even put Modric into that bracket. He was a talent no doubt, but we took the punt on him and turned him into a WC player.

The law of probabilities would see more fail than succeed, regardless of what club it is, as so much depends on the mentality of the player himself.

We have no less a success rate than any other club and probably more than most.

When was the last time you saw Utd, Chelsea et Al develop a youngster into a WC player? City with Foden I'd go along with, but who else?
It’s a far higher success rate than signing N’shite from France

Sounds like a signing we did to not miss out, stats can be overrated but already outperforming PEH and Camavinga on some metrics. Not bad for 18.

fuck knows but if a lot of top clubs are after him and the scouts love him you hope the scouts have done their job. We really should be doing 2 of these signings each windows, it’s how Dortmund grow, buy the best young talents before they are out of price range.
Agreed - hopefully another Eriksen and not an Njie

Legit - is he any good?
