Player Pape Sarr

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What he did today, in a far more orthodox midfield set up is exactly who and what he is for people who have been down on him. The toxic Angeball system needs Prime Kante and Zidane. But with a bit of sense this kids legs and lungs can win you games..playing with an injury and just getting on with it. Lads got a great attitude and enough for a fantastic top flight career.

yep. hes a very valuable footballer in a proper setup. his engine and stamina is elite, hes got decent technical ability and good football intelligence with it. hes an asset.

Sadly he’s only gotten worse under Ange. He doesn’t seem to fully understand his role. Beyond the results, which some might excuse with the injury crisis, cases like this reflect very poorly on the manager.

Got through so much work tonight. Probably went under the radar because there were a few very good performances but I thought he went about his business really well tonight.

Was he playing tonight ? Totally ineffective at playing the 8 role and then it looked like the 10 position which is ridiculous for a player that can't create or shoot.
Gray , Bentancur , Bergvall , kulu and Maddison should all be in front of him.
Not much more than just a runner.

Sorry fellas, I’m just not seeing it. Think he excels at nothing, he doesn’t make himself available to receive the ball a lot, when he does his passing is meh, and gets worse under pressure, he can’t dribble round/past people, his defensive work is ok but he’s no Makelele.

I thought he was really meh tonight.

I like Pape but have to admit that I'm swerving to your lane on this one.

Think we missed a trick not getting Gallagher in to do similar work. He's been very good with Atleti lately.

We'll see what a new coach can do with him.

I think Ange system is shit its basic overloading the wings but opponents are just sitting back and overloading with us. i cant tell when last the defense or mids have purposely played a ball through the middle, erikssen and dele use to be masterful at occupying the half space between the opponents defense and midfield.

I'm a first gen Aussie with Russian background - I couldn't give a rat's if he's English 😄

There are obviously better players out there, but he's a hard working player on and off the ball, with skill and guile. Never bad to have in a competitive squad.
Gallagher is a die hard Chelsea fan. The first time he has a bad game, or even makes a bad pass, he would get slaughtered. He would be on a hiding to nothing. That and the fact he isn't as good as what we already have means it is a no. Very expensive squad filler, that's probably why we didn't make more effort to go for him at the time he was available. It would have been like bringing in a new Hojbjerg at twice the cost just as we were trying to get PEH to move on.

Given strong direction under a meticulous manager who actually gives a moments consideration to his midfield composition, Sarr could be a very effective player.

He's got a good attitude, and excellent physical attributes, technical side of things nothing stands out as bad, but nothing great either, and no brain whatsoever.

His physical attributes would have been of more value around 20-30 years ago. But just running around a bit doesn't cut it these days since that's what everybody does, in addition to being skilled on the ball and offering other things that is. You no longer need one dimensional workhorses who'll cover for a more creative but lazy playmaker playing in front of them, but do nothing else of significance.

I'm of the opinion that pretty much everybody in this team deserves a fair shot under a more competent manager, but I also share the sentiment that Sarr is an easily replaceable player for the most part. This doesn't mean we should actually be replacing him tomorrow, but I don't see a great amount to get excited about.
