Player Pape Sarr

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I remember saying in the summer, just dangle £100m for Wharton in the summer and got like 10 laugh reactions and "He's a £40m player", "we don't need him, we need a 6". We lack that technical, composed player that can dictate tempo more than anything else.

The defence was always going to improve when Ange left, there's too much quality there for it not too. A 6 that's can't play football has just given us another headache to content with.

Just come off injured after 46 mins against Brazil...international week keeps shitting on spurs

What follows has nothing to do with the goals, one of which was a case of Romero setting him up really.

Him being only 23, emphasis since it's not that young really, is not very relevant here; just like how someone like Johnson being only 24 is not something to cling on to in his case.

There is so little technical ability to work with that I don't ever see him amounting to anything more than a prototypical box to box midfielder in a mid-table/bottom half counter oriented team where he could cover a lot of ground without getting involved with the ball much.

Sissoko is his ceiling basically, which is a euphemism for not good enough.

Go back 2 pages people are saying he’s been our best midfielder and should be starting every week.

We have a very delusional fanbase.

He’s athletic and a good engine and makes good runs in to the box .. he’s no better than a Sean Longstaff if we’re being brutal.

He’s definitely got some technique about him but none of it is special. He’s just perfectly alright squad depth.

He’s decent. Doesn’t have the potential level of Gray and Bergvall (who for me have the ability to become World Class), but he is just a tier below. He is still young. If he is able to have the career of someone like Carrick (who was very, very good, but not world class), then that is more than good enough for him.

Take him over Bentancur and the Washing machine all day long. I feel his biggest problem is that him Bergvall and Grey are the same player taking mins off each other. Needs to learn specificty they all do. The idea you add McTominay is even weirder.
Yeah having Gray, Bergvall AND Sarr makes zero sense from a squad building perspective, especially given they're all young and need minutes to develop.

I think we're gonna have to be ruthless for once and sell one of them. It's a bit like Sophie's Choice and could come back to bite us but given we so desperately need to add a passer to the midfield anyway, the 3 of them are gonna end up cannibalising each other's development.

It's the kind of thing we never do but other very successful teams have no issues selling young talents when it's for the best over the overall squad (and making huge profits in the process).

Given we paid 40m for Gray and Bergvall has the highest ceiling, I think Sarr's might be the one I'd sell. Really talented player and a top lad but I think we could live without him, and make a good amount of profit in the process.

If we could get our money back on Gray I might flog him instead, although I think there's a chance he becomes a really excellent player too... Very tough choice.

Carrick? Are you having a laugh. Pure delusion to think he could hit those heights. He can't pass ffs.

Bro- Sarr has infinitely more technique than Sissoko did. I'm shocked you seriously came up with that notion. Our coaching has been fucking pathetic the last few years and he's barely had anyone decent to work under the whole time.

You clearly never saw him play in France where he was running the show for his team at the 6.

Sarr would be the one to go.

Chases shadows most of the time and the game passes him by.

Both Bergvall and Gray, offer more to their game than Sarr and potentially have a higher ceiling.

I barely heard his name tonight against PSG.

Yeah...there's a lot to like about him but his best qualities are his stamina and off-the-ball work. I think we need a bit more from him on the ball for him to be a viable regular starter and I'm not sure he's got it in his locker.

In most cases I'd be happy to keep him around as he's a v.useful squad option to have and better than many squad players we've had previously, but we've built the squad in such a way that something has to give and we can't keep all these players for the sake of it.
