I don't think these average players are any worse than average players we have had in the past. There are just no difference makers on this squad at all. No Kane, no Son, no eriksen, no bale, no modric.
I hate to excuse these players but many are a victim of squad building. You can't replace 24 players.

We just have too many no 8s. Bergvall and Gray rightly wont be sold as they have a higher ceiling and both will qualify as club trained next year i believe. We're not selling Gallagher yet. Hopefully we offload Bentancur but not sure who wants him. Sarr is the obvious sale. Shame but he's not really pushed on as expected.

Our issue is just terrible squad planning. Every squad needs or has a player or two like Sarr or Gallagher.
We have tons of the same type of player and we try to play them all together and they just get in each other's way and have no idea what to do.
Gallagher for example isn't a terrible player per se...but he certainly doesn't address the gaping holes we have in our squad and is more of the same.
He's alright but he's not really kicked on and has no outstanding traits other than his engine.
Think under the right manager Gallagher could actually be pretty decent but not sure about Sarr.

He, Bentancur and obviously Biss must be shifted this summer. If even one of them is still here next season, that'd further prove we aren't a big club and our owners aren't serious.

Been average but we have failed him as a club IMO, have never really platformed him correclty and he's played for 5 different managers since he arrived, shitshow all ronud.
Guarantee if he went to Brighton back when we bought him, he'd be one of those players sought after by the rest of the league.
