Player Pedro Porro

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you want specifics - Eric Dier at age 23 had played 229 games
Just shows you that it doesn't say much about a player's quality and potential (I never believed for one second that Eric Dier was going to be a real top player), anyone with an eye for talent can see that Porro is very talented and has a very high ceiling so there is every reason to be excited about this signing. But sure, nobody can predict the future.

He has played 70 matches for Sporting including a dozen times in the Champions League, that's a big enough sample size to determine whether a player is talented and would add something to our team. The fella turned 23 a couple of months ago, why are you talking about 7 years ago?
For reference, in the past 3 season at Sporting he's had 30, 30, and 19 (and counting) appearances.

What a weird argument to make about a player...

By age 23, Wayne Rooney had played 315 times.
By age 23, Dele Alli had played 339 times
Ryan Sessegnon isn't 23 yet and has played 202 times

Absolutely nobody can say he will come to Spurs and succeed.

Nobody.

I'd like him to, very much.
but we have been here before. Many. Many. Many times.

Agreed, no guarantees unless you sign a one in a billion footballer like Mbappe for hundred of million of pounds, but we aren't exactly in that position.

I think there is a very good chance that he will at least improve our team.

Looking more likely to happen now. He looks like a considerable upgrade on what we have available.

But you know he's going to get injured on Saturday and be missing for weeks.

He was at Girona...

...who were/are partially owned by Man City and have links to Pep's brother,

They signed him from Rayo Vallecano's youth system at a time when shitloads of teams were chasing him (Barca and Real included) and AFAIK he went there to get a chance to definitely get actually playing football.

Matt the twat strikes again.

My point, is your chances of signing a player who will continue their trajectory increase when you know they have been doing it week in, week out for a good while.
I contend that Porro has 2 seasons? Of regular football where he's stood out.
No more than Ndomble, GLC, and many other players we've signed that have induced our fans to blow their loads.

Let's just wait and see.
