Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

By age 23, Wayne Rooney had played 315 times.
By age 23, Dele Alli had played 339 times
Ryan Sessegnon isn't 23 yet and has played 202 times
All three, very strongly may be argued, we’re massively overplayed whilst developing and hampered their long term qualities, no?

So, we could see it as the reverse, that he has been gradually introduced to mens football and May sustain a top level (relative to his potential) for many more years, no?

Absolutely nobody can say he will come to Spurs and succeed.

Nobody.

I'd like him to, very much.
but we have been here before. Many. Many. Many times.
HE WILL SUCCEED!!!!

I hope this transfer gets over the finish line. With Ivan on the other side, we would have two quality WB that could provide crosses to our forwards in the box. The interplay with Deki would be outstanding as well.

Ffs you could lose the will to live waiting for Tottenham to complete a transfer, every other fecking football team on the planet…..player wanted, pay the fee, get the player……bang DONE!!!!! 😏

Don’t know how good he is or his worth the money when we really need a CB?
However, said it previously that someone at the club has to question the purchase of a 4 WB? It is gross incompetence as well as may be some ego bullshit. Why is no questioning whether Spence could be the answer? I don’t get how we have purchased a player, not even played him to see if his any good and we are now paying £40M for another WB. Isn’t anyone saying can you not try spence? We all know it’s conte whoever being a cunt but his making the club spend £40M of ours and the clubs money on a player we potentially and probably can do without for now. Monies which could be used to either buy a CB or. Creative midfiekder. To me it’s absolute shocking state.
Yea its stupid not being willing to play younger players when it's clear we've bought younger players that will need games in order to develop- clear mismatch of needs. We need to forget about that though and hope Spence succeeds on loan.

Its true we've fucked up on the RB/RWB position for some time now. At least with Porro it would show we are willing to keep trying.

Was thinking the same thing. Wake up, Man City sign someone, Woolwich sign someone. Didn’t even hear about the transfer two days ago but manage to get the transfer done expeditiously. Tottenham on the other hand….”still in extensive negotiations” FFS. We really do make things difficult for ourselves

Tbf I do think other clubs nowadays very much have a scattergun approach to transfers.

It doesn't help clubs like us when teams like Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Newcastle etc just inflate the market each time.

£40m is still ALOT of money to spend on a player. But it kinda gets laughed at now because of over inflation.

Every club in every other league other than England would love to be able to spend £40m on a player. Some clubs in Europe's top leagues literally have no money to spend on transfers.

This transfer window it's a stretch for sure but in previous windows serious clubs routinely pay 40 for top talent. Napoli spent 70m on Osimhen in 2020. The deal was fishy but that was the agreed value for the player. And that's Napoli, not Juve, not Inter or Milan.

Yeah that is true, however you look at the state of Italian clubs now, they can't spend hardly any money most likely because they spent way beyond their means in previous years.

Football has just gone bonkers in terms of transfer fees though, especially this country.

Agree. When you see what Boehly is doing it feels very much like a bubble because of the number of overpays in a short time. It's unrealistic.

But the big transfers are an important part of the product that is football. Real Madrid built the Galactico's concept and it was a genius marketing/business idea whether we like it or not. Chelsea did a very similar thing and also whether we like it or not, City, UTD, and Liverpool spending an occasional 70,80,90m on a player is great for broadcast deals and sponsors. If you don't create stars, you don't have a premium product.

Which is where ENIC aren't pulling its weight as a big club owner. Sure we have Kane and Son has been incredible for Asia and as a player so it's not like Spurs isn't good for the premier league brand but if you want to be considered one of the big boys like UTD, Chelsea, City, Liverpool that do most of the heavy lifting for attracting sponsors and broadcast rights, you need to bring the same level of talent in that those clubs do. For ENIC that has to be the next step to really invest. That's one way to see it at least.

But back to Porro, tbh never expected it to get done but 40m on a RWB/RB is a top tier investment. That's not a question.
