Player Pedro Porro

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I guess we can finally see what Spence is capable of going forward on his supposedly strongest side.

No doubt people will be praising Porro in two weeks time as we always do with non-participants
I call this the Maddiveski theorem... we convince ourselves that something is true but in reality, that truth has only been established by means of accepted truth. Let me explain... so many on here (CJJ I'm looking at you) believe that we would be top 5 if Son hadn't been sold and Frank had Maddison, Deki and Solanke available all season. I think people forget that every one of those 4 players kopped a shit load of abuse last season for underperforming yet we are to believe all our woes are down to these 4 players not being available. The same will happen with Porro. After City rip us a new one and Spence is left in knots by whoever United play on the left. The pining for Porro will start manifest itself and memories of his poor performances will have vanished. Anything to deflect from Frank's inability to galvanise the team to play some sort of football that might worry the opposition.

To some extent I do agree, though the bolded statements are only just a theory, and not fact - at this point.

Come post Manchester games it can be revisited and either made correct or not.

I dont believe however that we woulndt be in a better position if we had Deki, Maddison & Solanke. We would. More quality players, with experience, would absolutely affect the squad and therefore results and performances. Though to go back on my own point, my statement is a theory, and will only know that post the return of said players.

Personally, I think Djed is a much much better Right back than Porro. The only advantage Pedro has, is his delivery/passing, but that is no slight on Porro, of whom I do like.

he's a donkey defender and the juice isn't worth the squeeze with his 'chance creation'. no one is celebrating he's injured but many have been clamoring for spence on the right over him. i'll be happy when porro moves on from spurs. he was a conte buy we brought in as we sacked conte. fucking idiotic and he only plays because frank is so inept and desperate

Think you'll probably change your mind now.

what? that your not a twat? sorry mate!

Uh so yeah so as I said we clearly miss Porro, chance creation and ball progression suffers without him unless you're happy with Archie Gray playing as a wing back which is clearly flawed.
my argument was for spence on the right over porro. i would’ve played him there yesterday with the new kid on the left. there aren’t a lot of options at fb right now so don’t know what the point of your little gotcha is here

There is something very weird about Spence never being given a decent run in this terrible team at right back.

I cannot figure it out at all.

Spence being accused of having a bad attitude makes me laugh.

He never gets a game for Spurs in his natural position.

Spence on the right to do what? :D

We clearly lack ball progression and someone who can pass the ball forward, Spence is a good ball carrier but he doesn't get the ball forward quick enough.

Porro cannot come back soon enough, same as Romero actually for that very reason...folk focus on isolated moments when they maybe be culpable of a high profile mistake yet totally ignore what they offer in 90 mins overall.

Spence is worse on the right. He gets boxed in down the line, he’s basic on the ball. On the left atleast he can come infield on his right. Still doesn’t do much with it mind.

Very true. If what we’re seeing at the moment is a team of players that don’t make mistakes(think theyre still plenty of mistakes that don’t get picked up by people because they’re not certain players or as obvious) then it clearly doesn’t mean shit.

Porro and Romero mistakes are a product of them actually trying to effect the game positively for us. I’m sure they could do the basic shit that other players seem to get praised for. Not going to help us pick up wins though. We need players actually prepared to make mistakes doing something positive instead of make smaller incremental mistakes being passive.

at 54 years old with two bad knees i could contain spence on the left. i don't know what we're arguing about. we have have 4 fit defenders and one of them whose name i don't even know.
Easier to defend on the right, hasn’t got the footwork, movement or the space to attack on the right. Atleast on the left he’s got the space on his strong foot to carry it inside. he doesn’t play on the right for a reason.

I do agree - injured players somehow get elevated
Right now we need numbers - but some injured players like Richarlison and Solanke have mostly been crap when they do play. It was never going to change much when they were back.
Same as Johnson would not have made a difference.
The back 4 of Porro , Vdv Romero Udogie- does help. Spence and Gray are a level below.
Sarr makes little difference - just a body
Gray same
Bissouma - has a few flashes.
Gallagher - body so far.

disagree. when you're on the weaker foot the ball is more exposed when you dribble forward. way easier to shield it on your strong foot. also the outside of the foot cross is worthless and easier to block. not saying djed is peak marcelo on the right but he'd at least be functional

We’ll have to disagree. Whatever side he’s on he’s still carrying or passing it on his right foot. on the left he’s got more space to drive infield on that foot. Theatrically more progressive passing options too. Body shape makes it much easier. On the right He hasn’t got the balance technical ability and movement to open up the pitch. On the right he can only pass square or backwards or a percentage ball doen the line. Every time he’s played in the right he’s been easy to read and box in.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’s very good on the left either
