Player Pedro Porro

Doesn't mean it's not true

Just look at our games vs Man Utd in Jan or vs New Castle recently, and see how poor he is.
He’s not poor. I will say he’s probably in a comfort zone knowing he’ll play because Royal is shit. Same with Udogie on the other side. Their levels will go up with competition and that’s something that needs addressed in the summer. Any player looking over their shoulders and seeing that it’s Ben Davies and Emerson Royal challenging know they will play.

He’s got weaknesses but I honestly don’t think you can make a realistic argument that he’s our biggest one when we have forwards not forwarding or even giving him much defensive cover.

He fits the profile of an inverted full back well. I have concerns about various elements of his defensive work but I have concerns about almost our entire squad for various reasons.

I honestly think Vicario has been a bigger issue over the last few months, but still wouldn’t have him anywhere near one of our biggest problems.
I don't disagree with you - he has his strenghts and he can be quite pivotal.

However, he is still not a top player.

One argument I would make to back up my claim is that we concede from set pieces largely due to him.

You will know if you look at all the goals we gave away in set pieces.

Goal aside, he was fucking terrible today. Sells himself for their goal. Saw loads of the ball but did absolutely fuck all of quality with it and wasted many good situations with poor decisions and execution.

Cracker of a goal but he's been poor for a while now. Like most of our squad, he's suffering from a lack of confidence and courage on and off the ball. Tekkers of early season seem a thing of the past.

I'd rather see Pedro overlap more often and utilise his capacity for crossing from the byline, with BJ drifting more centrally (where he performed well for Forest).

Maybe the longer term answer is a different player to play inverted RB and Porto plays RW/ rotates with Johnson? Then his defensive frailties aren't exposed as much?

longer term answer is sell him

I personally have more problem with his decision making ability than his defensive skills.

He's 24, he can improve like he has been for the majority of time he's been here

I like him he's done well, going from a wing back playing in back 5 in Portugal to playing in a high line back 4 with barely any protection is a massive jump and people wrote him off initially when he came to England and he proved them wrong so it's a bit weird to be writing him off now.

The very least of our problems.

He's a decent player offensively, doesn't get in positions to cross the ball enough which is fairly good at,however... we don't have a striker to finish off crossed balls either.
Defensively, he can be appalling.

The trouble is, that's just not Ange's system. And Ange only does his system.

I agree Porro looks much more comfortable overlapping than underlapping, but that's also on Ange to coach him to feel more comfortable in that role. Ange, at least from my perspective, seems to be struggling to coach the players into running this system the way he wants to.

Maybe that's just down to time and will improve with more time under Ange, but it's definitely appears to be an issue for most of our players so far- Porro is not alone in that.
