Player Pedro Porro

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think Porro would excel under a manager that utilises wingbacks, including Amorim and Conte.

Remove a part of his defensive responsibility by receiving more support and he instantaneously becomes a more reliable player.

Under Ange, he has played as an inverted fullback and has only been able to overlap when we are in a bad situation in a game or in the EL.

Excellent player with vision and can execute those passes, which we saw today as he connected very well with Yamal.

I have always liked Pedro and couldn't understand the vitriol he got from some quarters. Having said that, I still think he would be sensational if he played further up the field.
I always end up finding positives in the players who seem to become the focus of negativity. People find an aspect of their game to criticize and off they go. Emerson Royal obviously didn't fit the new system, but defensively he was solid. I also respected that he spent a lot of his own money in the off season on training and conditioning and seemed to really want to get better. And I'm probably the only person who thinks Timo Werner had some good moments. Not being able to finish was his downfall, but he could turn the corner on defenders and was good at getting crosses into the box. Werner just needed to be on a team that could just leave him out there. Without the pressure that comes with having to produce in 20 minutes stretches he eventually would be a fair (not good) scorer. I hope he lands somewhere he can do well.

As a slightly defensive winger delivering down the wing and shooting from outside he would be unreal. Hopefully Frank at least gives it some consideration. I think it would have been something that could helped Ange too.

It's never about his commitment he was hung out to dry like every fullback under Ange. He is probably the poorest fullback defensively however but he's very creative..Its about building a system that maximises our three good fullbacks strengths. Character wise he's one who could wear the arm band there's was a period when however flawed only Porro and Spence were still trying.

I'm be very interested in seeing if Frank tries to utilise a lopsided backline to try and get Pedro as far up as possible without sacrificing a defensive structure.
