Sissoko was much much better than Hojberg.
He absolutely was not.

Sissoko was an athlete. Nothing more. He was an embarrassment with the ball at his feet, hid more than hojbjerg, had a worse shot, couldn't pass the ball. He was abysmal. He was that bad that a couple of 7/10 performances in 2019 meant a bunch of fans thought he was something special and he became a cult hero. He was nothing but utter shite. Same thing happened with royal. Useless.

He was a key part of a Spurs team that got to the CL final. He was like a dog chasing a balloon at times but he never had the brain farts that PEh had every game and his ability to defend in transitions made him a much better DM than PEH ever has been for us. Sissoko never went missing defensively or missed tackles, PEH did that all the time.

I don't even think it's up for debate, Sissoko was a much better player for Spurs and had a much better Spurs career.

A key part? I don't agree. The team carried him every time he played, games happened around him, I don't remember one stand out performance from him during that run, no moment like hojbjerg in Marseille. He was ok at the nou camp iirc. As I said, a couple of decent games made a lot of fans sit up and turn him into some sort of cult hero.

I'm not going to hold the penalty in the final against him. Much better is a hell of a reach imo. He was a key part in the demise of pochettino, replacing dembele/wanyama with him. What a downgrade.

You are entitled to your opinion but he was the starting CM for almost every game, maybe even every game. Objectively that made him a key part fo a team that achieved a run to the CL final.

What was PEH a key part of for Spurs?

The EFL 20/21 run to the final :gallashmm:

I feel key is doing a lot of heavy lifting when looking back at those games, I don't feel he had any real impact. We were a var call away from going out of the quarters, and the the freak last 45 mins of the semi he had no bearing on. Blasting Dortmund aside, we were extremely lucky during that run tbh, because we were playing the likes of sissoko and getting dominated in the midfield.

He started every game (iirc) and it happened. You can't just deny it happened.

Anyway, both bang average so this hs had enough air already.

Sissoko had some level of press resistance and was much more athletic than Hojbjerg. Running with the ball he was on a different level.

Hojbjerg better off the ball but yeah, give me Sissoko over him all day long.

Losing our on pitch leader. Who's going to step up and be the boss on the pitch? We've got a lot of kids out there who need some experience to get them organized.

Son, Romero always seem pretty quiet. In fact, most of our squad seems to be pretty introverted.

PEH averaged 33 minutes a game last season. Tough to be pitch leader of you're not on the pitch.

Romero is the leader for me. Already happening.
