Poch had the best team that we have had in the last 20 years and won nothing. I would not expect any better in the event he came back. In was very poor in the season he was sacked and bought N’dombele, Lo Celso, Fernandes, Bergwjn, & Sessegnon in his last transfer window. None were any good.
He was only interested in winning the PL & CL and we are light years from winning either. We need a new Manager in the summer who can use the current squad and not start another rebuild. This Manager needs to be able to stand up to Levy’s obsession with earning as much prize money by chasing the top 4 non trophy and win a more achievable trophy like the Europa or domestic cup like Newcastle. This is not Poch.

Poch also made a lot of that team why they where. Rose, Walker, Kane, Dele wouldn't have been the players there where without him IMO. He also got rid of the shit but as you say and I've said before if he comes back he needs to accept that we have a DOF and not be allowed to do transfers, because his record of them is awful.

I think Poch would have this side in the top 6 if he was here this season though rather then the bottom 6 like we are now almost

I’ve learnt to just let people have their revisionism.

Glad I got to see that team play and some of their players at their absolute peak.

Sanchez
Trippier
Davies
Dier
Winks.

50% of the outfield players that humbled Real Madrid.
But of course how could Poch fail with those 5 starting??

Not to mention Dele the fraud flattering to deceive the masses.

World class and the absolute best according to plenty on here. Nothing to do with coaching ability.

Spot on. It always makes me laugh that he had some amazing team from the off right through to the CL final. I remember Kevin Wimmer and Tom Carroll playing a fair few games early on. Ryan Mason, Bentaleb, Fazio, Stambouli as well.

Probably the last truly great performance under Poch was the 3-0 against Dortmund. That team had Foyth, Sanchez, Aurier, Winks, Sissoko and Moura starting.

Are we going to start singing the Pochettino chant every game until the end of the season again? As much as I'd love it to happen I can't see it.

Levy didn't bring him back in 2023 when it was so obvious. It was an absolute penalty kick in 2023 while now its a lot more complicated and Poch has managed Chelsea in the meantime! I think we just have to move past it. These threads about Poch are just prolonging the grieving phase. My heart still wants it but my head says move on. Its been 6 years!

I dont think it will happen either and whilst i suspect there wasnt much more in it than 'hows the family,' he was pictured with our chairman the other day so there is bound to be speculation when we have a dead duck of a manager at the helm.

Yeah I get you. I'd love it to happen. It would unite the whole fanbase again which going by this forum is badly needed!

But I don't want to get my hopes up. Levy didn't do it in 2023 so all logic tells me he won't even consider him now. It is also a lot more complicated now too.

Am I right in thinking Poch has a contract which expires next summer?

If so who here would be willing to endure another Postecoglou season in order to be able to let Mauricio fulfil that contract before returning to his spiritual home in N17?

Not me.

If we want him then we should act now, as in today, and begin the process of either extricating him from his USA contract, or coming to some agreement that allows him to do both.

Can't personally see the latter happening, but the former shouldn't be an issue if he wants it.

I can't see us doing it though, otherwise why didn't we go to him when all the moving parts were in the right place 18 months ago? Sure things change over time, but if there was no appetite for him when he was free and we were looking, how much would that appetite have increased to be at the point where we'd try to wrestle him away from an active contract?

Absolutely no way would I want to endure another season under Ange as even more of a dead duck whilst we wait for the USA contract to run it's course though, that would be tortuous.

No, not under an Enic/Levy administration.

Didn't end well - Levy's fault primarily due to spending on other matters - but the last 18 months weren't good to watch. And how long can one man (and his coaching team) stay at a club for? Maybe in the future, yes - the mutual love is clear - but not now.

It's a no from me.
1. Never shut down the Man U job discussion
2. Final season football was Ange levels abysmal
3. Took Chavs job
4. Shamelessly twerking for Spurs job whilst employed by US... if a better job comes up he will dump us
5. Second time around is always dissapointing
