Sorry for the ramble but I've been trying to wrap my head around this all morning. Can someone help me piece everything together.
If reports are to be believed, we had Fonseca lined up, agreed and ready to go. Not the most popular choice by any stretch but a choice that many fans were starting to come around to because there was at least some sort of logic behind it and you could see what they were trying to do. Then, at the last second, Gattuso takes the hump (shock) at Fiorentina which make Paratici completely change tact and go all out for him. Not even testing the waters. Not just a general enquiry about his availability or suitability for the job. No, they just completely binned Fonseca to move on to another controversial target without, apparently, any consideration or foresight into how this would go down with the fans.
It's just...horrendous, horrendous decision making. I'm an Estate Agent (rubs hands sinisterly) and if I've got a decent buyer on board (even if it's a little below our asking price) after being on the market 3 months and everything is about to be agreed with mortgage in place, solicitors etc, I'm not just going to suggest to the vendor to bin that buyer because someone else has said they would bid £5k more without even doing so much as a check to see if their finances stack up. And when their finances don't stack up you've pissed off the original buyer so much he walks away, you don't get the new buyer and you're back to square one having lost total trust with your seller.
I am utterly bewildered by this. It's truly moronic business.
but Ali gold has proved time and again he doesn't know jack shit, sure he quotes official news but he makes stuff up like the rest of them in-between.It seems virtually impossible we didn't at least have contact with Gattuso - many high credibility journalists reported it, it wasn't just some ITK rubbish. Alasdair gold had clearly been told by the club we'd had talks with him. And it all checks out with the way we dropped the previous guy so suddenly as soon as Gattuso become available.
But even if the reason they abandoned Gattuso was because of his comments (and not fan reaction), then that again just shows how incompetent the board are. How did they not research him before inviting him in for talks? Did nobody at the club even remember him headbutting one of our staff a few years back?
Maybe I'm being naïve but I do feel it's a little different this time. I just can't ever remember this much negativity towards Levy and the board.
Normally it's a small but vocal minority pushing it. Now I am pretty confident the majority think Levy should go. And surely almost everyone is unhappy with how everything has been handled.
Even myself... Until a year ago I wouldn't have said I was Levy Out. I wasn't a fan, but still maintained that even though Levy/ENIC didn't prioritise the team enough, they at least ran the club fairly efficiently. But now we genuinely look like one of the worst run clubs I can think of.
Daniel Levy releasing that PR piece video I think is evidence he's at least slightly concerned by the current backlash. He's trying to control the narrative and we shouldn't let that happen. The narrative is clear: they have underinvested in the squad for too long, made countless disastrous decisions, and totally fecked up everything these last few months.
Had there been fans in the stadium last season the atmosphere would have been toxic. And that was before the super league, and the total shitshow of a manager search.
The club are definitely aware of the negativity, and we should continue to put the pressure on. Even if it doesn't make a big difference, it's better than doing nothing.
A massive opportunity to destroy their CVBecause, ultimately, we are still a massive opportunity for the vast majority of managers out there.
All true however the required standard is presently 3rd tier Europe which we are lucky to have.We all said #NoToGattuso which was great but how about we say #NoToMediocrity
Spurs are the 8th richest club in the world and charge the highest ticket prices in Europe.
How is it acceptable that the choice of targets range from people like Nuno who got sacked by a club lower than us and Scott Parker who got relegated. Its not good enough and I hope Fans stand up to any potential appointment that is simply not at the required standard.
say #NoToMediocrity
Not Italian enough for Paratici
