Match Preseason Summer 2026

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Why does the team need to keep travelling so far away from the base to play preseason matches, is it supposed to be a ploy to sell high numbers of merchandise in these places?

After a hard season full of injuries and a world cup, we want to cram the players into an aeroplane for 16 hours or so, each way, and play in a high temperature where avoiding dehydration is going to mean slow play, because even mild dehydration can make someone vulnerable to injury.

Crazy isnt it.

I remember when i was 7/8, I went to watch a pre-season game between Yeovil & West Ham. Julian Dicks was playing for spammers, thats how long ago.

Mad to me the load they are putting on these players. Surely, put aside from the commercial benefits, they should have a 'fallow' year of pre-season where they just play at White Hart Lane, earn a few mill per game and be done with the travelling. £20-30 a ticket and you'd have a relatively full stadium

Well I didn't consider that it's winter is Australasia now, so it won't be that hot, but still why not just have a simple preseason and not put any physical or mental strain on the players, let them sleep at home and have time with their families etc.. so I agree just some home matches would have been more sensible.
