Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

And that is what I find bizarre because it's the easiest to win (and I'm sure he knows that as well) so this nothing but massaged PR for the fans, etc.

"The pressure is to win the Premier League or Champions League. They are the two big trophies.

"I'd love to win a cup for our fans but Tottenham must build a project for the Premier League and Champions League.

"If we forget those two, it's a big mistake. For a big team to win trophies, it means the Premier League or Champions League.

"Wigan won the FA Cup. Where is Wigan now? League One. That is the most important example."

Dont you think hes going in a bit too hard for someone who is secretly plotting an FA Cup win as our priority but only saying otherwise to massage my ego

For a manager who's won fuck all to date the cup comments are embarrassing. If you think otherwise - hey ho

And I find that strange considering the difficulty factor and general trophy drought

Thats a whole other argument.

Many people feel that the game has changed. I dont think we can keep this squad together with FA Cup wins....we have some of the best players in the world, and right now the best manager.

Why shouldnt we win the top trophies? Why would they stay here if we are being small time?
And yes, prioritising the FA Cup is small time for us.....our rivals are challenging for the CL and PL, hpw can we call them rivals if our biggest aim is the FA Cup and Carabou?

That is my whole argument to be fair.

We cannot compete with our rivals who pay triple our salaries - furthermore not even Chelsea and Man Utd can keep their stars these days. So unless we can challenge for 3-4 trophies like Barca and Real every single season - there will always be the danger of losing our best.

I think the manager's approach may have something to do with this:

'.....we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory'.

Consistently challenging for the league title will bring more to the club than collecting one or two cups. It may be nice to win a competition, but in the long term the Wigan example whilst extreme (as in I doubt it happens to us) is relevant. I don't think the F.A. Cup keeps the core of our side together.

Spurs are on the verge of something special, and we need to win the league to continue on that trajectory. IMO our manager has more than proved he knows what is best for the club.
