Supporters Racists at Spurs

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There's always an undercurrent of racism bubbling under the surface when football fans get frustrated and this season has opened my eyes to how normalised it is amongst this fanbase.

I said before that certain people are abusing Son to justify their hate against Asians particularly because they feel they are losing their club as there's now lots of Asian tourists in the stadium and since we are losing every week their voices have got louder and louder.

Recently I got chatting to the saleswoman in a local out-of-town store. It turned out she used to be a police officer in N London and regularly policed both Spurs and Woolwich games. Sadly for me, she was quite clear that Spurs fans were far worse. Being a Liverpool fan, she had no skin in the game. I know this wasn't a direct comment on racism, but nevertheless, it was a bit salutary to hear an objective opinion of 'us'.

To this day, sadly their anti racism, education and inclusion programmes are levels above. I've spoken with coaches about it previously and it's fair to say they do a bit more than us on that front, which has always been a bit of a gut punch

I believe it, we have a few odd mostly older fans. All fan bases do but we have a few as well. They have an edge-lord vibe and do use the Campbell song to be 'edgey'

Yup

I’m a ST holder and have been following the club for over 60 years. I’ve stood in all four stands at the Lane and two in the new ground, I can’t remember the last time I heard racist remarks at Spurs, we have had diverse players and religions for ever and we have never tolerated racism as a fan base.
It was prevelant in the 60s and 70s throughout the country and we were always on the receiving end of it. I have seen those few who made racist remarks rebuked for it and I remember when the BNP tried to peddle their poison at the Lane selling “The Bulldog’ propaganda magazine.
They were chased down the High Road and never came back, we almost certainly have knuckle draggers in our ranks but like the poor, they will always be with us.
I have always been proud of our fans intolerance of racism and believe that that should be celebrated.

I must have a good bunch around me, because I have not heard anything that is racist. I am sure if there was any, then it would get stamped on pretty quickly.

Anyone that hears it in the stadium should text the location, person description to the Spurs text line, it WILL be dealt with. (Text 07537 404821)

Agree it is out there though.. Watched the away AZ game at the local village football club and a group of kids at a table were making the comments about Son and Dogs. What was sad was that they were probably between 15 and 18 years old. I was under the impression the "newer" generation were more aware and against racism. Too many of them for me to interject, but had a word with the barman, who said "what can we do ?". I suggested they get banned and I have taken it up with the Chairman of the club.
