Supporters Racists at Spurs

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Whilst I dont think the match going spurs fans are racist there is a feeling of underlying uneasiness/tension/suspicion of anyone that does not look fully English.

People assume you have never been to a game before or know nothing about football or not a real fan. The amount of times Ive been asked if its my first time etc...

I think its got to do with fans feeling like they are being priced out and replaced by tourists willing to pay silly prices.
Isn't there truth in your last statement though? It is a view expressed a lot on this forum - that tourists (by definition unlikely to be English) are an increasing proportion of those who attend.

I think a lot of fans would object to that. Not on "racist" grounds, as they wouldn't object to what they regard as "real" fans attending based on their ethnicity, but because it makes the matchday experience less authentic and enjoyable.

Who decides what is 'Acceptable ' or 'Unacceptable ' thu. I believe there is a line and that maliciousness is part of the line.

Is someone's intellectual capabilities taken into account. If not are they being discriminated against? Eg I think many Reform voters may be of sub educational levels. In the same way I think many of the far left are closed of mind.

What is the bar for being offered?
What bothers me say may not bother someone else. And visa versa.

Starting typing and fuckjng just confused myself.

Not so. Because a company's standards do not trump the law of the land.

It is true that it might be permissible to fire someone for expressing racist views.

But your statement above is incorrect. The facts of the case, and the nature of the views (esp. whether they are legal or not) are highly relevant.

We're talking about what's upheld in a company's standards, not what is upheld in general society or land laws. If a company has the right to hire you based on what you've agreed to in your contract, then they have every right to fire you when you've breached it.

Come on, it's not that deep.

This problem is on the club.

If there were sections for “singing” supporters to generate an authentic atmosphere nobody would care about tourists.

If anything tourists would be more encouraged to learn the songs to enhance their own experience of the game.

You don’t see any potential problems with political opinions being written into employment contracts?

No because generally that comes under bringing the company into disrepute, it's up to them how lenient or strict they want to be when you've broken the rules but at the end of the day you still agreed to it.

Contracts aren't there just to be signed, they're there to be read and understood.

FFS I sound like my HR manager. 🤦‍♂️

You don’t see any threat from discrimination when employers can write political opinions into employment contracts?

The problem is that alot of these people look at anyone that is not local with contempt. At the end of the day people are just going to watch a football match. They dont need the bullshit of being questioned how long theyve supported the club or being looked down upon.

I get that people are being priced out, but football is popular the world over. People come from far and wide to see their team and are just as passionate.
