But that's exactly the point - if he turns out to be a dud, we don't have to keep him, same as Werner! Obviously none of us wanted Werner's loan to be extended, but would you rather have had him on a 5-year permanent deal? :/
We don't disagree on that - the only disagreement we have is that your overt optimism while I am realist - we agree I'm just more reserved on this particular loan.

I'm also Bayern fan - I've seen this guy play & I honestly think he'll be a good fit & we did get a good deal but to me I cannot predict what comes next - I hope you're right I just don't want to run to hills screaming his name just yet.

Hard to know tbh. Unknown quantities in the EPL that could turn out to be quality signings or duds. Nevertheless, the intent was there and we signed in three key positions. If you had told me at the beginning of the window we’d only get 3 signing, I’d have asked for a keeper/CB/striker. Hopefully they can hit the ground running!

The thing with the Tel thing is there is a lot of 'ifs'

I think it could be a good loan because he wants playing time and he wants to prove himself so he has nothing to lose, we will play him in a system which plays a lot to his strengths and he most probably do really well. If he does well his stock goes up but whether he think he'll be able to walk back into Bayern is another thing altogether...Bayern are looking to sell him so I'm not convinced he has a future there hence giving us the option to purchase him.

If he doesn't do well then it is what it is, we don't take up the option but I'm looking at the fact that Bayern are looking to sell and get some money for him, unless he becomes a world beater in 6 months who can suddenly oust the best striker in the world then I really struggle to see him going back there for the time being anyway.

What 'overt optimism'? I was merely pointing out that in many ways, a loan with an option to buy is actually much better than a permanent transfer. It's far from optimism - on the contrary, I'm happy that, unlike with a permanent transfer, we'll be able to 'get out of it', i.e. send him back, if it doesn't work out. How on earth is that 'overt optimism'? Surely it's assuming the worst? :/

Hard to compare us to other clubs on this occasion due to the length of our injury list

A lot of clubs have quite a few injuries too - same reasons which are a lot of fixtures with little time between fixtures which is easy to track back to fifa/uefa. My concern over the number of injuries and its effect on our season is shown by me starting the TFC injury thread.

The number of transactions in January are very small versus Summer - so extremely unlikely Spurs were ever going to meet unrealistic fans expectation as the number of players are simply not available.

A very good comparison is ManU - a big club with a very weak squad where last match their 2 recognised strikers were on the bench (not trusted) with a young AM playing striker , yet far bigger income than Spurs, who loaned out Rashford who is now unreliable, and could not compensate by signing Tel as Spurs got him, and signed no forwards..

So whilst there are never any direct comparisons, ManU fans would have ideally (but unrealistically) wanted lots of signings and had to settle with ONE signing and would have been much happier with 3 as Spurs achieved.

That's why Spurs have had a very solid Window - probably our best January window in 15 years !

Not to mention our precarious position in the table, the fact we’re still in 4 competitions and our remarkably healthy PSR position compared to other teams in the league.

Why not look at whom other PL clubs are signed ?

That way you might understand just how few players moved.

That way you might offer an informed opinion rather than you usual nonsense

Can you not read my original post?

Other PL clubs are not in the midst of an injury crisis like us, in such a precarious position in the league, involved in 4 competitions and, crucially, don’t have the financial muscle we have.

You do t get it…

I want one striker who is better than we have got, one who is a 20 goal a season striker who will help give us more of a chance of winning those competitions. We have not got one imho.

We all would love that but it's not realistic unless you think we can slap down £150m on Isak and convince him to come, do you think that's possible? No me neither.
