Christ, is all peeps ever think about damned transfers?

"Yay.... We're in the CL final.... How much does this mean we can spend on players for NEXT season? "

Besides, don't we already have a transfer thread anyway with hundreds of posts just like this?

After the end of the season please. Now just SUPPORT THE LADS

Three weeks though... Maybe with a week to go we can focus on the final. Lot of time to fill.

Guardiola said earlier "Next Season we'll be stronger, we'll be better"

This is what we're up against. Levy needs to ask Poch what he needs to compete with City, then get as close to that as possible. The team needs significant investment, only a fool would suggest otherwise. We could, hopefully, have to play the Super Cup and Club World Cup. We need to strip out the squad players not good enough or injury prone. Can't be sentimental about it just because we've reached a CL final.

Everyone seems to have forgotten the great big hole left by Moussa Dembele.

We have to buy a midfield player to fill that hole.

Plus another two midfield gives us three acquisitions.

Which right back we lose first will likely be down to what offers we get for them but I can't see either being here after a couple of summer windows. We can do better, can surely attract strong replacements who Poch can improve further.

I would imagine moving Aurier out is the priority. He cost us £25m, he's taking up a foreign player spot, he's always injured and he's daft as a brush. We don't need him at all.

Trips at least has a reliable delivery in the final third and he's home grown.

Probably worth starting with the current squad, based upon CL rules for Club trained (C), Other FA Affiliated Clubs (HG) and u21's :

GKs - Lloris, Gazzaniga, Vorm (out of contract)

CB's - Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Foyth (u21 in 2019/20 for CL)

FB's - Rose (C), Davies, Aurier, Trippier (HG), Walker-Peters (C)

CM's - Wanyama, Dier, Winks (C), Sissoko, (plus Amos (C), Skipp (u21)

AM's - Eriksen, Son, Dele (HG), Moura, Lamela, N'Koudou

FWD's - Kane (C), Llorente, Janssen

Assuming Vorm leaves and with Foyth having been with Spurs for 2 years so qualifying as an u21 for 2019/20 (after that he will become an Overseas trained player), we are actually at 17 Overseas Trained players (our maximum).

We have 5 Club trained players (Kane, Rose, Winks, Walker-Peters and Amos) and players trained by other clubs affiliated with the FA (Trippier, Dele) - so space for one more, or two if Amos is loaned out.

But to create space for incoming overseas trained players, we need to assume N'Koudou and Janssen are sold.

1, We need a 3rd GK which could be either Alfie Whiteman from the academy or if another brought in preferably a Club Trained GK (eg Button) or other home grown player so as not to take an overseas trained player. That assumes Vorm's contract will not be renewed,

2. Wanyama appears to be injured beyond repair, whilst Lamela has been significantly injured for all but one of his 5 years at Spurs, so neither can be relied upon and need to leave to be replaced by players who can be relied upon to be more fit.

3. Serge Aurier has not impressed much over his 2 seasons at Spurs - time to move him on to generate fees and get in an upgrade. His RB colleague Kieran Trippier started the season well, but has looked vulnerable since against the better sides - with HG status, I'd move Aurier on before Trippier.

4. Fernando Llorente has done well in infrequent appearances, but is not able to play multiple games in a row and as his contract is up, I'd look to get in another Striker/AM rather than renewing Llorente's contract for another year.

5. Up to Poch whether he can bring through Luke Amos (sadly injured for the season very early on) and Oliver Skipp at the same time - and not forgetting Jamie Bowden who has been 19th man on a couple of occasions. It may be that Amos goes on loan whilst bringing in a more experienced CM (in effect replacing Dembele),

I don't see us bringing in more than 4-6 first team players, its just too difficult to not only identify and bring them in, but critically to also integrate them, so that's probably it !

But the big questions must be over Alderweireld, Eriksen and Vertonghen all of whose contracts have only one more year to run. With the new stadium likely to allow a much higher wage structure and Spurs being in CL finals rather than the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United, I am hoping we are able to persuade them all that Spurs is the place to be for the next few years. But if not we need to add them to the list !

Keep them all as they have been fucking superb for getting us where we are.

We need to be ruthless and rebuild the team, they lost 13 matches in the PL and had very few performances where we actually controlled the game. The midfield needs to be rebuilt and other areas need fresh faces. We've reached the limit of what we can do with this squad and some of them probably want to move on now.

Players we must get rid of: Vorm, Aurier, Llorente, Wanyama, Nkoudou, Janssen
Players we should sell for the right price: Rose, Trippier, Lamela, Walker-Peters
Players we should keep: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Foyth, Davies, Dier, Skipp, Sissoko, Winks, Alli, Eriksen, Lucas, Son, Kane

We all know that Alderweireld and Eriksen are considering their futures but we need to do everything we can to keep them. If we lose them because they want to play for Real Madrid that's fine, but we can't lose them over salary demands. Offer them what they want and if they won't sign then let them go.

I dag up number of minutes each our firstteamer has played this season (in all comps combined for 1st team) and wanted to share, as this gives better impact of how significant impact losing player X or Y might have -

GK:
Lloris - 3859 min
Gazzaniga - 990 min
Vorm - 279 min

RB:
Trippier - 3084
Aurier - 1358
KWP - 705

CB:
Toby - 4273
Sanchez - 3022
Jan - 2808
Foyth - 1258
Eyoma - 11

LB:
Davies - 2709
Rose- 2474

CM:
Sissoko - 3329
Winks - 2651
Dier - 1912
Wanyama - 982
Dembele - 706
Skipp - 402
Marsh - 25
Amos - 2

AM:
Eriksen - 4039
Son - 3202
Moura- 3148
Alli - 2882
Lamela- 1550
N'Koudou - 121
Sterling - 9

ST:
Kane - 3252
Llorente - 1238
Janssen - 36

So what is the conclusion -
1) If we are thinking about selling Vorm, N'Koudou, Onomah and Janssen - their combined playing time for us this season was 426 minutes. This virtually makes no difference if they are here or not.
2) If we add Wanyama and Lamela to the list (Vic being absent for 2 seasons in row, Coco already 3rd season missing) then we get the number to 2958 minutes (roughly equivalent to 33 full games or the total playing time of Sanchez this season).
3) If we lose Eriksen and Toby due to contract issues, we will lose 2 by far most reliable players from the past season - between 2 of them they played equivalent of 92 full games. Next in line will be Sissoko who played more than 700 minutes less.

It's nothing really about transfers, at least not buying specific players in. I'm asking what direction people think our team and style of play are going to go in next. What the rebuild is going to look like and who we build it around. Poch has said himself it's on the cards and it's clear some players are going to leave or are coming to the end of their careers. Dembele has already gone so it's already begun.,
