We were not good but ok. XG is an ok stat but at low numbers beating XG is valid
Dude, we were dreadful. People were in denial, but we were awful. Look for my posts in the Frank forum, will we finish 5th, all the game forums and I was shouting from the rooftops it was absolutely awful and we need to act. I got a mountain of abuse, but it was obvious. We've been diabolical all season.

He is not a winger. He has looked fine when being played as a 10 but our lack of wingers means he gets thrown out wide and he doesn’t have the ability for that. That is on us not having wingers.

Any AM with something about them should be able to play out wide to a decent level - i mean the AM role doesn't really confine the player to the central area anyway, they should be floating around looking to exploit pockets of space anywhere across the width of the pitch between the centre circle and the opposition defensive line. If he can't impact a game off the left then he just isn't a very good player

We were bad but better than the worst. We are now the worst.

If the club did an unnecessary fire sale to make profit the would rue the day when we get stuck for 3-4 years in the championship. Would be very counter productive. You need to keep a base squad that is significantly better than everyone else both in quality and depth.

Only way it would work I think is Poch building a side around Vuskovic, Moore, Souza with seniors like Solanke and Maddison to provide the experience. If that happened we would come back up and additionally would have a Poch team ready to go in the prem. it would be hard losing Romero, VDV, Porro and Udogie and the like but that should provide the cut in wages and new money to rebuild.
Yeah absolutely. Especially as, while it's annoyingly limited and imbalanced, we do actually have a deep squad. Most team's line-ups would actually look significantly worse than ours with 10+ first team injuries. We'd have to sell/release literally 15-20 players to get the line-ups some people are suggesting.

We should be able to get about 80-100m (combined) for prize assets like Romero and VdV alone. And before people say we'd be forced to sell them for peanuts, remember Newcastle got 30m for Sissoko and 25m for Wijnaldum when they were relegated TEN years ago. We'd have to sell for below market value but we could still command solid fees.

Main thing would be gutting the squad of negative influences and players not up for the fight in the Champ. I suspect Kudus, Xavi and probably Tel would try to force moves and they're also pretty high wage earners. That's probably another 80-100m for those 3.

Beyond that we're really not gonna be forced to sell. That's 4-5 big wage earners and 150-200m in transfer fees. Other sales should be made for squad balancing purposes and to reinvest in the squad.

Isnt it strange that the discussion has turned to who will stay /leave. The thread should be about how to stay up not what will happen if they dont.
the hows the easy part - stop being so fucking shit would be instruction to the players.

Stop treating the ball like a live grenade, stop playing everyone out of position, run your fucking bollocks off, communicate effectively and have some fucking cojones

We would probably loan those that we see value rather than sell.

How many of our players have the character of the West Ham and Forest players to dig us out of this hole ?
None IMO .
If we go down how many of our senior players would have the character to put their hands up and say "I helped get the club into this shite so I'm staying to help get it back to the PL".
None again , unless they just couldn't get a move .
From top to bottom this club lacks spine .

Doesn't work like that. Barcelona signed Riquelme as a LW and was a disaster. He's probably my favourite player ever.

My optimism that we stay up will remain until tomorrow’s result. If we win. I’ll still be very optimistic about our chances.

But we need to take all 3 points tomorrow. If not, I’ll be surprised if we stay up.

Enormous game.
I will not resign myself until it is time to resign... we only need to stay ahead of either Forest or the Spam, and we have a 6 pointer coming up against Forest. That one alone could be pivotal, and there are 9 more besides. The patient is critical but we are not on the point of calling for the priest yet.

Apparently the Opta computer has us at 22% likely. A 7/2 punt.

I think you need to fix your AI 😂
