sadly it feels to me that there are many on here thinking that relgation is nothing its a joke a laugh, well i was around last time, yes we were good up until the easter, but from then on we just got up with a draw on the last game at Southampton (who were also up) where it felt as if the players had agreed they won't shoot at each others goal( as a draw suited both of us)
Lots appear not to care that we will be down, Other teams will be laughing at us, If you think that ENIC have the brains to get us backup think again, look at who they are empolying in vinai & Lange, At east Levy would have seen the danger back in Oct/Nov and made changes then
ENIC may not have the brains to get us back up I agree. If we go down, the best thing they could do is a strike a deal with a new owner that would give ENIC a payout / further payout when we get back up. In other words, give another party control, but align economic interest with coming back up. It's possible to do, but ENIC/Levy etc endlessly fancy themselves as being "good at it". Which they evidently aren't. Relegation will shock them. And mid-table champo even more so. They need a Plan B which isn't them continuing to own. They need to think of an exit that gets them most of the value, recognises they can't run the club, and prevents things getting worse.

The issue is that we haven't won a league game in 106 games.

And whilst you cite 11 shots and 7 on target, we were pathetic in the final third. Partly down to our forwards being out of form and low in confidence but mainly down to the fact we have no senior wingers other than Tel, a player who is not PL level (yet) so are forced to play two strikers in those positions.

We have no creativity.

Bloody eck. 106 games. I know we are bad, but....!!

😂 my mistake. 106 days.

It feels like 106 games,thats
I noticed that. Thought it looked wrong but because we are so shit I thought there was a good chance it was correct.

Hard to comprehend what's going on if I'm being entirely honest.

Too many wrong factors all at the same time and endless defeats.

If the worst happens then the club simply need to respond, and that is by buying the very best talent that money allows for Championship-level game-changers, and the very best possible defenders, and have deep cover in every single area of the pitch.

The major problem is that shit show upstairs who have failed to back ANY manager with the players they want.

A drop down to the champo might be good if we can get rid of that mob.

Maybe we could merge with Wrexham and start a new TV series.

You say that, but Tel is neither senior, not a winger, so essentially we have no wingers.

We're playing a midfield that has no creativiity, and we're playing a front 3 of strikers who are finishers rather than creators.

Xavi Simons has to be on the pitch, either in the midfield 3, or the front 3. In the absence of Maddison, and to a lesser extent Kulusevski, he is our only creative type of player.

We only have 2 wingers in our squad, and both are on long-term sick leave, so we really need to drop the formation that is reliant on wingers.

I don't think that's quite right.

It's a few things in my opinion.

Not sure you can just back managers with the players they want, which none of us are truly aware of anyway, and it also presumes far too much, such as does the player want to come, what their agents are asking and more besides.

I think you must get the manager right, and that's crucial for progress, if not success. If success is also part of any strategy then a club must also realise/recognise that it has to have 1 or 2 top drawer players. The type which pretty much every other club would want

To do all that you have to get your buying strategy right, and that's easier said than done,, with a big part of that knowing (and then reflecting), what kind o club you want to be, and being willing to dig deep but then we are back to the variables as above.

Alongside any strategy however, I think maybe the most imperative element is having a core of players who have the club deep in their fabric. Who care. Who are also the type of players who will pass on the right traits.

Look at our squad and ask what aspect of what I have written is in evidence.

But getting the right manager is key, which is what you will see with Newcastle, who will part with Howe at the end of the season, and who might go for Iraola, but equally if they grt it wrong they might start to struggle.

You know what, in hidsight i'm of the opinion that Frank wouldn't have got us relegated tbh.

We would have found a way to sneak a couple of away wins imo. It's done now and no point saying "what if" but I genuinely think the players are pretty awful and have given up but Franks system imo would have got us a win yesterday for sure and probably Fulham as well imo.
nah,

we were seconds away from losing at Burnley ffs

Let’s say this happens , we bounce straight back up and now we are stuck with loads of championship level players and get battered again in the PL ….
I get we will need players for the championship but the worry is we get stuck with more cloggers

The good news if we come straight back up is that we will be financially far better off than half the Prem sides still anyway - what would be needed is someone competent to do what Sunderland did - ruthlessly cut players who cannot step up and splurge on better replacements.

The biggest difference needs to occur in the boardroom. It’s not curtains if we’re down for one season though, we’re a financial juggernaut compared to 95% of English football clubs

And the options?

They won't be cloggers but it's true they won't necessarily be good enough for the PL.

Not sure in answer but this squad, unaltered to suit and with 3 or 4 additions won't come straight back up.

Arguably we would need to pay a bit more for PL players who believed they could take us straight back up or seek to buy Championship players who are destined for the PL anyway, and pay a slight premium.

Plus bonus for getting straight back up.
