To be fair they arent playing badly. Hit the woodwork against Brentford 3 times , was a top heavy result, yesterday after the first 15 mins they were well in it, had a gilt edged chance to go 1-0 up. Think they're capable of getting 2 wins but its their lack of goals and away form that could get them. But we have to have the attitude they will win both games and absolutely need to beat Leeds tonight.

West Ham did play well, but Woolwich really didn't turn up yesterday, at all. They had a massive off day yet still won.

They will not win another game if we win tonight. It will crush them.
I agree with this. The fans might say different, but if we go 4 points clear I think players will be on their phones to agents and if you’re Summerville, Bowen, Fernandes - last thing you want is an injury that keeps you at a Championship club for another 12 months - the first Joelinton elbow will make the think fuck that

Don't see West ham overturning 5 point gap in 2 games and ourselves not winning a single point either

So I stick to it being over if we win tonight

I'm not attempting to persuade you to change your mind.

I'm just pointing out that if Spurs win tonight they will be 4 points clear of West Ham who proved yesterday they are more than capable of beating Newcastle away and Leeds United at home who are both now on the beach.

Spurs have momemtum going into the Leeds game this evening but;

This game represents Spurs best chance of points.

Chelsea away and Everton at home, this season, are not easy fixtures at all.

Either way Spurs have work to do and talk is cheap.

It will be a 4 point gap if Spurs win btw.

Yes but your maths is incorrect as a win tonight means we’re only 4 points ahead, not 5. If West Ham win both remaining games and we only picked up one further point - we would go down.

So in the event of us winning tonight and West Ham winning both games, we would either need to win 1 or draw both

Right we could afford to draw both because of that GD that could be vital considering it's Chelsea who we never beat and Everton who are refreshed going for Europe.

Anyway I'm parking this as it's too premature. I'm very wary about Leeds

Leeds are now safe, so that should take some of the heat off of this from their end.

Not sure they are that kind of team watching them this season. If they put in a performance like they did away at Man U we are a bit fucked. We wont live with that.

We havent won at home in the PL in over 6 months of football. Got to change that now. Beat Leeds and Everton, not just to stay up, but for next season too. Start to put that losing at home hoodoo behind us.

I think you are right to be cautious. There are always more twists. But by winning tonight we reduce two things. 1. the likelihood of there being any severe ones and 2. baking in the refs fucking us over more. This can not be understated. I dont trust the officials or Sky or the PL.

Spurs winning tonight puts West Ham in the position where they have to go out and win 2 games. Nothing else will do.

My concern is the nature of Spurs fixtures when juxtaposed with West Ham's.

Both Chelsea and Everton will have a reason to try and win both of these games.

They need points for European qualification.

Also; Chelsea fucking hate Spurs and would love to see us relegated.

West Ham's job is now a simpler task than Spurs.

Only wins will do and the teams they are playing have very little to play for.

As long as we win tonight, I don't think going to Newcastle in the last home game of the season is going to be an easy 3 points for West ham, the Chelsea game cancels out yesterday if we are honest so 3 points tonight and we just have to hope the Geordies do us a favour as I'd like to be safe before the final game as Leeds will roll over for West ham if it means we go down !!!

I just think one game (or game weekend) at a time. Boring, but true. I just cant think ahead of that now......although saying that, playing Chelsea when we do is good. A game we always lose, when we will know what West Ham have done is great. I saw a bit of Newcastle yesterday and now they have that first choice midfield back they are a different beast. If we are safe, then we can sit watch it and hope to turn them over with no trepidation.

However, it is Spurs. When does it ever go smoothly?

West Ham's task is in no way simpler then Spurs if they are 4 points behind us with 2 games to go.

What kind of mental gymnastics is this?

Also are we suddenly acting like going to St James Park for their final home game is an easy 3 points?

This Leeds team that people are wary of tonight will just lay down for West Ham?

It's highly unlikely they win another game but I dont want it going into the last day so we simply must win tonight.

My point is that if Spurs win tonight West Ham have to win their last two games against teams with virtually nothing to play for.

If Spurs win tonight they can stay up by not winning another game.

That is the mental gymnastics you refer to.

If Spurs subsequently lose away to Chelsea but West Ham win away at Newcastle what then? :gallashmm:

My point is that this situation will be an evolving one until either Spurs or West Ham are safe.

Spurs cannot assume anything until we are actually safe.

Spurs also have tougher fixtures; in my opinion.

Winning tonight is actually a necessity if you think about it.

Spurs are now under pressure.

Have we now got the minerals to shift that pressure back onto West Ham?

I was thinking in the moment of that VAR call last night, that not only does it take a point away from them, which itself makes Leeds safe, but it's also absolutely soul destroying.
It'll go one of 2 ways, it'll either fire them up to play out of their skins in the next 2, or they're just gonna drop their shoulders and crawl through them.
It’s only devastating if we can perform and get. Result though. Otherwise it’s a frustration that hasn’t cost them anything

They have to find/have the minerals otherwise, next season they are playing in a different league.
Team has to win tonight, no other result should be acceptable.

We arent 4 points ahead though and need to stop making out like we are. Leeds will be a tough game. Acting like it’s anything else is fucking stupid
