We have every right to be furious at the obvious inconsistency of the two decisions the last two weeks, but nonetheless I agree.

And tbh I don't think it's just us or even just football. Something about the ability to share social media clips plus the pervasiveness of video review has made endless armchair refereeing an ever larger part of sports, much to the detriment of the entertainment IMO.
I bet there's a section of every single Premier League fan base that thinks the officials have it in for them.
I know it's particularly rife in the Newcastle fanbase. There's loads of them that are absolutely convinced there is a BIG 6 cabal (which includes us) scheming against them to stop them breaking in.

Every fanbase in every sport has a pretty significant share of its fans, particularly online posters, who refuse to engage in anything other than complaining about refereeing, the absolutely most boring sort of person.

It's an amazing trick of the mind for these people to never see when decisions go in their team's favor.

Which ultimately is just a "Boy Who Cried Wolf" effect for situations like the last two games, when it's truly bullshit that both of those decisions go against us.

Because form is temporary but class is permanent.
And while our players aren't as good as we want them to be, they're a class above those at Leeds, Forest, and West Ham.

And that will prove out in the run in. One if those clubs might collect more points than we do. Maybe even 2. But all 3 will not.

Rationally ; I’m in full agreement with you . But sometimes, in any sport ( just like in life ) , irrational things can happen , so we can’t be considered safe until we actually are .

If you’d asked me just a few weeks ago I would have said that the “ R” word was essentially so unlikely as to be impossible; but I really don’t feel like that now . FWIW .

I've already seen how much it is to book a box at The Valley...

Not bad, not bad...

The conspiracy theories about the prem and the officials wanting us to go down or having it in for us is getting so bizarre.

It's in every fucking thread and it's pathetic.

Victims FC

WE are the architects of the position we find ourselves in.

Not the League. Not the Refs. Not VAR. Not Goblins or Hokey Pokey.
Its on Us...The club.
i still think we get bad calls from refs but so dose alot of other teams
its still mostly the old top 4 teams (pool, Chelsea , united and Woolwich)that get the most bias class for them
but i agree with everything you say as it is the right mentality
i mean even at kids/teens level my coaches knew which refs didn't like us or were more scared of the other teams
so we had to adapt to that and play even with more Focus and cleverness so that the ref couldn't make a decision against us

On this corresponding match week last year we drew with Bournemouth 2-2, fighting back in the second half after going two goals down. We were in 13th; had 34 points; +14 GD; and were 17 points clear of "relegation".

We would go on to win the Europa League Final. Meaning Champion's League football.

But the defensive injury crisis which was now, finally, over had shown just a how fragile our squad was. We could not have been given a more timely or obvious warning about the dangers of fighting on multiple fronts with a lack of requisite quality or depth in our team.

We were warned.

And yet here we are. Another injury crisis. On our second manager of the season. Four fucking points off the relegation zone. Winless in 11. Leaking goals for fun. Struggling to score at all. A completely demoralised playing group.

Every single choice made by this club since that night in Bilbao has been a catastrophic failure. Every appointment; every signing; every LACK of signing when it was clearly needed; all of it has been a complete disaster from the second the final whistle went and Son held that Cup aloft.

And we were warned. That's the bit that hurts the most. We were warned and we didn't listen and we made those choices anyway and it's all led to this. The fucking hubris of it all is off the scale.

It's all self-inflicted. A long drawn-out slow motion fucking calamity.

If we somehow get out of this, an entire Royal fucking Commission needs to be held into making sure we never ever make these mistakes again.

Rant over.
