There is no graceful way to get relegated when you are a club of our size and stature

last time we really flirted with relegation in 1998, if I remember rightly we had Les Ferdinand and Anderton (natch) coming back from injury, along with bringing in Berti and Klinsmann for the second half of the season to get us out of the shit.

We fucked up the January window so no comparison there. Could any of our players coming back from injury have a transformative effect this time? I don't think Maddison is nearly as good as he thinks he is. Kulusevski is plain not good.

I still think we'll avoid relegation....
But I also think that Aliens built the pyramids, and are the reason we look to a Man in the Sky for 'answers'!

Worst case scenario is we go down with De Zerbi and the board make sure he's given what he needs to give best chance of coming straight up, as his wages are yuge and I don't think he's signed with too much of a dip in that department if we drop, because his hand was so strong and they were begging him to come.

So we've ended up in an optimised position for both eventualities.

I'm fucking chuffed.

Just need us to stay up and scum to not win a cup and it all ends up silver lining. :angryscouser:

My god, just imagine if we do stay up and scum don't actually win anything, leaving them achieving as much as we did this season. lol

Should we close this thread now that RDZ has arrived.

We could all migrate to the playing for 5th thread.
Good times!!
Could yet be a legendary thread for the 25/26 season.

I’m wondering if Lange and Vinai are actually posters on here with some of these hot takes.

We were just underestimating ourselves apparently!!! Top 4 here we come!!!

Looking at the fixtures I dont see where we are getting wins from.

Brighton and Leeds look like only games we may get something.
I’ve posted before, we’ve lost 1 of our last 10 against Sunderland and haven’t lost at the stadium of light for something like 15 years.

We have won 5 in a row against Leeds and haven’t lost to them at home for 23 years.

Our overall record against Everton in the Prem era is total domination - they love giving us points.

On top of those 3 we’ve got a manager even more motivated to beat Brighton. Wolves who we are capable of beating and Villa likely sandwiched between Euro semis.

Chelsea is the only game where I just think no chance

Facing a Sunderland side once in the last 5/6 years is not a viable measurement of any kind.

I am sure those in charge of the club can come up with a worse scenario than either you listed.

Kudus could be massive. Ppg with him 1.2. Ppg without him 0.2.

Our prior games against Sunderland are irrelevant for 2 key reasons.
1) We've fallen off a cliff this season in unbelievable fashion
2) the last time we played them before this season was just over 9 years ago. Both clubs have changed beyond recognition since then

Similar logic for Leeds. Iirc, the last game before this season was under Conte?
