I honestly thought that we were going down before the Wolves game. I expected us to pick up a point at Wolves and get beat by Villa — so to have 5 points less than we do now and trail Spam by 3. I correctly anticipated that Spam would get stuffed at Newcastle and Brentford.

I was pretty much at the acceptance stage of grief.

More importantly, in my head, I had cleared out all the underwhelming malcontents. There were very few players that I hadn’t mentally driven to the airport and said good riddance to.

Now with things being different, I’ll be happy to survive but, at the same time, I’ve had to entertain the possibility of having to watch the same players I loathe for another season.

If we stay up, I think a lot of player shifting occurs. RDZ has had a good look. I expect considerable turnover. At least 6 outgoings. (Let’s face it, Vic, Biss, and Romero are all but gone already). Think we’ll sell 1 of our young midfielders. RKM absolutely gone. And I’d bet tomorrow is Richy’s last game. Forgot about Dragusin. Bad fit, will be sold. So maybe 8+ gone.

If we go down, probably even more gone.

So either way, lotta new players next year.

Yeah I reckon regardless of the division we're in a fair few will leave. Like 8 if we stay up and about 13-14 if we go down.

Our squad is simultaneously bloated and lacking in quality. In a season with no Europe we're gonna need to trim a lot of fat.

If we stay up and are bringing in Robertson and Senesi on frees, hopefully that leaves a good chunk of cash to spend in midfield and forward areas where we're desperately lacking.

Obviously a lot of these players need moving on, but remember this is ENIC still in charge, and they really dont like selling players at a loss. I think whatever happens tomorrow we will have our very own "bomb squad" going into next season

Well Levy didn't like selling players at a loss. In our first Levy-less window we sold Johnson at a loss early in the window in a very un-Levy deal.

With or without Levy ENIC are wank, but we're obviously gonna be run a bit differently now the bald overlord isn't micro-managing every aspect of the club.

Apparently the sporting director, Kehl, that we want to bring in was good at selling players when at Dortmund, so that's something. The bad news is he was apparently shit at everything else.

We haven’t liked selling players. Period.
Supposedly this was due to Levy being sensitive to us being called a ‘selling club’ a decade and more ago.
Opportunities to sell players like Dier, Dele and Eriksen when they were worth far more were all passed up.

Yeah if it was all about money we could've easily made like 150-200m flogging those 3 at their peak. Levy clearly felt it was unbecoming of an aspiring 'big club' to sell good players but he took it way too far. We absolutely should've cashed in on Rose and Dier at the very least, but instead we let the squad stagnate. Walker was the only big sale we made over that entire era.

Ironically if you look at the most successful club in PL history, Fergie's United, they sold top players at the peak of their game all the time as they understood the importance of refreshing a squad. Levy clearly never understood that and refused to sell players for anything other than crazy money on sheer principle.

If we replace some of these mugs with the next man walking down the road I’ll be pleased just to have someone new to disappoint me week in and week out!
