Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It just, strange. Any managers once they come to us will mellow down into some meek sheeps. Mourinho, Conte, Tudor, De Zerbi. I would have thought they will carry their fiery nature to our club, but no. I always thought hmm maybe the club is such a lovable peaceful place their temperament has dialled down. But over time, I just want some fire in them but it's completely gone. I think the duvet has to be blamed lol.
It’s also because they all joined at moments when the team was on the floor. Coming in and shouting and screaming probably wouldn’t have got the reaction they were looking for. By the end of it they were shouting and screaming though when they realised what a shithouse they were dealing with. No investment, no culture and a club satisfied with being a bit better than the rest.

The same ones who say there is a player in there somewhere when justifying the expensive purchases of players like tel, oddjob, Richi, Solanke, list goes on. They deserve the relegation for accepting the crap we have purchased who now seem unconcealed and can’t string 3 passes together. The same ones were happy with Frank. Even though he wasn’t even an upgrade on Ange. They all deserve this shit. Some of us have been calling out this for ages. Mangers , players, coaches, directors the lot who have been crap and got us into this mess but some on here thought they were all good.
Not one fan of this football club deserves relegation.

There is nothing wrong with trying to support the decisions the club makes. Trying to be positive even when those decisions are proven to have been poor.

To blame any fans for any of this is a ridiculous stance. They didn't make the decisions.

I hate to pour cold water on Tel, but 3 coaches in a row have deemed him not good enough to start. Maybe, just maybe Tel aint that good.

He can run fast and do a trick though so that is more than enough to fool a lot of fans. What they should be asking is why does every manager not deem them good enough to start ahead of the other useless sacks of shit. Probably because he is even worse than them in training, which must be an achievement.

I think most of us agree that we have a horrible squad with no stand out players. However, the question right now should be: How do we set up the team to score goals? I think a front line of Tel - Richarlison - Porro, with Xavi behind them would be best from what we have available. They are all crap, but they have their moments of inspiration from time to time.

Our players aren't crap but they are in a whirlpool of negativity that has been present for far too long.

I don't care how and when it started, with some on here out of their minds arguing about its inception and causes. It's irrelevant now.

De Zerbi has an all but impossible task in our remaining games and too many of this squad are completely scarred, alongside a sense of being bigger than the club which feels quite unique to us. Maybe the Europa win was the cause or weak management from 2 or 3 obvious sources. Most probably it's that imperfect storm, allied to a non-stop stream of i juries at the wrong time to key players.

De Zerbi took the job on. Was rewarded with a massive contract. Stay up or go down the squad has to radically change.

It needs a new captain, a new core, a new spirit, freshness and togetherness. It needs to be made clear to every single player that they are not bigger rhan the club.

I'll leave the posters who want to dance around their handbags over an irrelevant human being until maybe some realise they are being led a merry dance by an illusion.

Especially when on the other end of the scale; any tangible protest movement has been a limp dick (other than a commendable section of the away fans).

I understand the sentiment and the arguments are so easy to say but but but...

How many are internationals?

I can't explain what's happened this season even more than last but I think we can say 4 or 5 things all happened at the same time. Maybe 1 or 2 more factors as well. As I see it.

Crippling injuries to key players, without quality replacements.

A terrible choice for captain

A manager, kept too long and who the squad had little or no faith in, replaced by somebody who was given an impossible first match, which went nowhere.

3 or 4 players being allowed to show disrespect in a manner no big club should ever stand for. No club should stand for.

Not a single player who has shone for more than one game, and shone to the point of being a match winner.

A failure in the winter window, and inadequacy in the summer, as in understanding what was needed and seeing the warning signs from the previous season.

I think you might expect to get one or two of those issues in a season, but to get them all leads to what we have.

Yes, he is not really good enough. But are the other options? It is about finding some sort of balance with the players available.

We are clearly not succesful without him, so we probably give him a run out as we do not have many of his profile in the squad who are fit to play.

The squad has quality, but it's a terribly assembled squad. It's a Frankenstein's monster due to managerial changes and a DOF who doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

Our midfield options are all too similar. Nobody can pass. I look at West Ham and Forest and their midfield is head and shoulders above ours.

We have zero fit wingers and failed to replace Son's goals. Playing 3 strikers is laughable.

Solanke is a decent player IMO, but he's seemingly never fit. The others are really poor. Muani has been a passenger all season.

I get it, you're on this doom and gloom train but let's be serious no-one is walking away from that much money, that's not how things work - people don't just walk away from life changing money like that - if anything if he gets frustrated he's more likely to do something that will get himself sacked, probably speak out against the owners in a press conference or something that is considered gross misconduct but to walk away from £50-60m?, sorry you're off your head lol

I agree he won't be here for 5 years though.
Nahh not doom and gloom at all. Call me deluded but even after the fact weve not won a game in the PL since november, i still think we can pick up a win at the weekend even though i have nothing to back that up.

50/60m is a shit ton of money yeah. Im just not sure he would find it easy to be motivated at managing a relegated team in a lower league, when clearly his level is much higher than that.

We will find out. I’d love to be proven wrong.

Good post mate.

Put it this way, aside from 4 or 5 clubs - the obvious ones, there is zero reason why we should not have a balanced squad, brimful of quality and options, but even more than that it's apparent we need senior players who not only know the demand but who help the dressing room dynamic.

What we have is a squad that as you say is maybe too one-dimensional, strikers who between them should be so much better but who are collectively poor to average, and an absolute absence of one player who we would say we miss when they aren't playing, possibly Maddison aside.

It's never the money we spend, although in January we fcuked-up, but how it's spent. If it doesn't change, and if we do go down, we won't bounce straight back. No doubt at all.

Unfair about Xavi. He hasn't had a fair shake.

Nah, he's shit.
He might, with a lot of work, get there. But in our position, running into dead ends blindly and losing the ball is not helping us in this situation.
Gray, Gallagher, Bergval, Sarr, and Palhinha hiding from the ball for 90 minutes isn't going to do much to help us either though...

When you have 2 shit options, at least we should go with the one that has some intent, if not necessarily the capability.

The ball doesn't tend to keep coming back at us with those guys though. Nor do they often have a good option to make a pass but just, well, not.

We're a horrible team. Absolutely lacking any sort of skill or creativity. Simons should be the answer. But he's not.
We probably have more chance of "creating" chances by piling as much pressure on opposition defenders and hoping for a loose ball, than of having any player capable of splitting defences or putting in crosses and attackers using them.
