Management Roberto De Zerbi

I think it was a tactic tbh cos I remember hating it

No, Jose spoke about wanting to build up with a three block at the back and Davies tucking in to be the third CB, whilst Aurier became a wingback. It was definitely a preconceived idea of his.
Coaches say lots of things after the fact...

:ange-lips:

I'm not disputing that it happened, just that it was more of a natural byproduct of having Aurier/Davies as your fullbacks.

If it was a deliberate tactic that he wanted to implement then you'd have it happening both sides intermittently, we didn't, it was just Ben Davies being told to stay back because he was slower and less of an attacking threat.

It's splitting hairs anyway.

Bergvall would have been getting mins for Barca by now if he signed for them I reckon.

Our main issue is profiling and not actually having any sort of plan for our players when we sign them, if you look at the kind of young talent we've bought in they haven't really fit into what we are trying to do and they haven't been given any sort of consistent nurturing plan.

To be fair we have been a fekin mess, 4 coaches in 2 years, injuries galore etc...but I believe that if Brighton signed Gray for example he'd be balling out and we'd be pinning for him.

I do think that's it's probably easier for Bournemouth to scout and sign these kind of young players as well, they can sell them the dream of playing Prem football, nurture them and sell them onto a bigger club once they level up, I don't think we can promise that because there aren't so many places to go when you leave Tottenham unless you're truly exceptional.
Yeah all our signings feel a bit slapdash and random. Clubs like Brentford have a bloke whose main job, or at least a big part of it, is player pathways. Very obvious thats something we completely lack.

Amazing to see some people laying the ground work to have a pop at De Zerbi already.

If we stay up it will only be because of him. Let's not forget where we were when he came in, we were dead and buried. We were getting battered every week.

The games we've dropped points in have all been by one goal, we are in games, we are the protaganists now, imposing on teams rather than being passive and shit.

But he can't miraculously turn Richarlison, Muani and Tel into competent attackers.

Particuarly when we have zero creative midfielders fit.

To be honest it will be a miracle if he keeps us up.
Agree. The previous several managers were all terrible in their different ways, De Zerbi is a huge step up. If we stay up he's played a big part in that.

What people then need to look at - irrespective of what happens on Sunday - is the disastrous running of the football side of things at N17. Boardroom, recruitment, infrastructure - everything. We've been in and around the bottom places for two years now, that's not a one-off. The club is sorely lacking a coherent identity and strategy as a footballing outfit.

I'd put Spence on the wing but yes totally agree. Other than the occasional bit of hold up, Muani might as well not be on the pitch.

Or put Sarr out there? He can hold up the ball and isnt bad taking shots and getting into the box. Let's face it, he cant be any more ineffective. He was better under Tudor. Maybe move Richy left, Tel right and him through the middle. They need to do something because the same approach re Everton will probably see us getting relegated.

I think I'd rather a youth player up front than Sarr.

Though who that is, no idea, with Lankshear and Scarlett out on loan.

Richi is our best option up front unfortunately. What a mess.

Might put my name in the hat to run the football side.

I'm awesome.

Absolutely no idea who you are, but I'd accept - couldn't do much worse!
Well let me tell you who I am sunshine.

I am someone who will make sure we don't hire Gooners at any level of our beautiful club. Anyone who so much as wears red socks into the office will be heading to the job centre. Sponsors will remove any red in their logos before being allowed to be displayed at the stadium.
I'll make sure our players know what an honour it is to pull on the lilywhite shirt. Any that besmirch it - or who dare act like they are better than it - will be sent to play in the Bulgarian lower leagues.
I'll hire managers who want to play the Tottenham way - gorgeous, attacking football with flair and style aplenty.

Unfortunately, I will not be promising to bring the cheese room to fruition. I make no apologies for that stance as it's vile stuff.

The last person who called HampshireSpur HampshireSpur

‘Sunshine’ is now pushing up daisies on Dartmoor!!

He's probably wondering which one of this lot is going to relegate us on Sunday with the usual unforced fuck up.

Since he's been here, Danso cost us 2 points against Brighton by going asleep in the 95th min, Tel decided to cost us another 2 points by giving Leeds a penalty out of nothing because he wanted to look Billy Big Bollocks with a spectacular clearance which would look great in the photos after his goal, and Muani played the best through ball of his Spurs career straight to a Chelsea player just as we were about to make 3 subs and try to get back into the game, costing us a point,

So I can see Sunday's game fizzling out at 1-1, nothing much happening , both sets of players happy with the score, till one of our cunts then steps up to the plate and sends us down out of nowhere.

Who's turn is it this time ?

Hard to decode De Zerbi.

A big part of me expects a few things but neither will I be too surprised if I am wildly inaccurate

I think he will be very verbose at the end of the season, stay-up or relegated. I think he will be quite pointed about what he has seen and what he wants to see.

If he stays, and in some respects his task of reshaping the squad is easier if we go down, I think we will hear much talk of the right player for the size of the club. It's painfully obvious that we identify only certain qualities in players. Huge salaries for inadequacy.

I think he will want swift and decisive action, although with a world cup that is going to be very difficult, or he will go nuclear to the point of crossing the line.

For now you just get a sense of a pressure cooker under a sense of restraint.

Gotta be honest im a big fan of Robbie Dazzler.

He got the balls for this.
I get the feeling he’s keeping his real thoughts and feelings quiet because of the dire situation we’re in. No sense trying to start any fires when the place is already burning to the ground.

But if (when) we stay up I expect and hope he will feel free to let rip and start fucking some people up big style because this club needs someone to kick some ass. Starting with the useless clowns who employ him.
