I owe this man an apology.

Brighton looked decent under Potter, under De Zerbi and under Hurzeler so I thought just another manager in a system club like Brentford but his work at Marseille’s (minus Greenwood) was excellent and spoke to someone beyond a cog in a wheel. He really is a Bielsa type manager, not managed an elite club like Real Madrid but has a brilliance about him. Really underestimated him.

His savings us from relegation is as impressive a managerial performance as I have seen with us considering the players looks mental done, physically done and fucked. Very few managers could have pulled this off I feel. Bielsa is also a very flawed manager but a cult guy. None of them are Pep or Klopp but De Zerbi seem more of the Pochettino or Biesla level rather than the Frank or Nuno.

Best fit for the club since Poch, and it's the first time since Poch, that we actually got better with someone.

I unironically thought that he should get a mural or plaque if he kept us up, but looking back on it, that's a downplay of his achievement. He took a squad that was mentally and physical broken and was able to immediately able to get them playing like a top six club (getting results at a ~60 point pace). That's an astonishing achievement, especially considering he was missing his starting keeper, most of the starting attackers, and had catastrophic injuries in each of his first three matches.

He saved the club hundreds of millions of pounds in what would've been lost revenue and value in player sales. That deserves an acknowledgement of his achievement.
 
RDZ has a lot of previous when it comes to kicking off at a clubs hierarchy when they aren't backing him and in alignment with his vision. Even our revolting owners will think twice about pissing him off given the traction he has won with the fans.

it took a lot more points than we were expecting too. 11 points from 7 games (needing 9 to stay up on GD) was beyond all expectation considering we'd had 1 from the 7 games before it, and 7 from the games before that, and I think 5 from the 7 before that.


So he got 11 points in 7 games when it took something like 23 games prior to it to get 12 or 13 points.

Who said we should have sat in silence? I left bang on the final whistle, fuck clapping a bunch of tossers that produced that season.

I also think you missed the nuance of what RDZ was saying, he was brought in to stop us get relegated and then build on that. He achieved the first part, so yes for him it was better than a final. If we end up in a relegation fight next season do you expect him to say the same?
 
There is no question in my mind that he made the difference between going down and staying up ,in all likelihood he won't be with us that long for whatever reason but I will always give him credit for at least this season. Hopefully we give him the players that suit him and he will then get us up the table for a start and then we will be better placed to go the next level .

I'll settle for him not falling out with all and sundry in 15 months, throwing a massive strop and storming off.

I'd prefer that Roberto doesn't make a big thing about sitting on upturned buckets as well, if I'm honest.
