I believe he will come good sooner or later. Some strikers just need more time to get into the groove. Giroud immediately comes to mind...

Sometimes it's the players around him that need to learn the kind of run he will make, a couple of times yesterday Soldado looked to make a run in behind when we had the ball around the halfway line, would have caught their back line flat.I believe he will come good sooner or later. Just watched a couple a seasons worth of Soldado-goals on Youtube. A few things stood out for me:
- the attacks were mostly at a high tempo
- high quality crossing at the first opportunity
- high quality through-balls
- Soldado was not the only attacking player in the box (usually two other players joined him)
- Soldado is good at attacking the near post
- He finishes quickly in tight spaces (that's what she said)
I still think we should have also gone in for Valencia's Ever Banega, whether that had been in expense or in addition to Cristian Eriksen.Just watched a couple a seasons worth of Soldado-goals on Youtube. A few things stood out for me:

So..guess we need to replicate these situations on a regular basis and he will score. For example, Walker is generally poor at crossing and often dwells on the ball, giving the defence time to organise. We have little to no through-balls coming after high tempo, direct play. Way too often Soldado is alone in the box. We have to give defenders more to pay attention to. Plus, if we can set up one-twos in the box Soldado is great at getting his shot away with minimal space around him.
inverted wingers directly affect this, they either come back inside on their stronger foot, or hesitate and supply a half-hearted "swinger" with their weaker foot.Just watched a couple a seasons worth of Soldado-goals on Youtube. A few things stood out for me:

Its more the fullbacks responsibility with us.
Problem is they are slow to support, and often ignored.
If Townsend picked the ball up, came inside then played it behind the FB for an oncoming Walker we could get some great delivery going. (Happened once yesterday, couldnt believe my eyes).
Instead Townsend gets the ball, holds it, runs back and forth a bit, eventually runs inside, ignores everybody else and shoots from stupidity.
On the left without Rose we have nothing.
Good point, but it seems he's the kind of player AVB would have training with the youth team..I still think we should have also gone in for Valencia's Ever Banega, whether that had been in expense or in addition to Cristian Eriksen.
While, Banega may not have the potential that Eriksen does ... he still is a pretty decent tidy, young (25 yrs old) tempo dictator. His understanding with Soldado alone would have been worth it.
Plus when you consider he's Argentinian too (good for Lamela), and actually has great through ball and lofted ball ability, you might scratch your head some more.
Young, rich lad in living wild shockerGood point, but it seems he's the kind of player AVB would have training with the youth team..

Even when Walker does have the chance to put in a cross he usually dwells on it for ages.

There once was a bloke called GiroudI believe he will come good sooner or later. Some strikers just need more time to get into the groove. Giroud immediately comes to mind...
Huddlestone had that vision and ability but was obviously lacking in other areas. One other thing we really don't have alot of very good passers in our team, Eriksen is known for his vision or creative ability but him aside nobody else is reknowned for their passing ability. We've loads of guys who love to dribble and shoot or get on the end of moves but we've very few players who are actually above average at setting them up with quick intelligent passing.

Whose strike rate for Ärsenal was crude
but a deft Wenger touch
helped raise it by much
and the end of this limerick is rude.
