The cross from Lennon? I don't think so. The ball had a great speed and bounced just before reaching him, giving it a slight change of direction and height. Unfortunate that the ball hit his leg and not his foot.

Yeah, it took an odd bounce and came in fast, but there are many strikers who do far more with less than that on a regular basis. When I watched the replays, I wondered if he was surprised by it making it's way past the defender.
Lets face it we'd all play him ahead of Defoe even if he missed 15 shots a game, I think a few recently he should have tucked away, particularly when we had Southampton the rack, yesterday's not as much, it will come.
He has shown now as part of a 3 way movement attack with Eriksen and Lennon with his pace he has so much more to his game, great vision

He's been looking tidy in recent games. It's black magic that he hasn't scored more.

He has much more to his game than many of us were led to believe when he signed, when he was talked almost solely in terms of his goalscoring. This guy is a footballer. Reminds me a bit of Greavesie who was also a footballer, not just a penalty area predator.
Soldado seemed to be playing all across the pitch, which given Ade's tendency to roam, does give us a lot of fluidity, as long as they get into and around the box frequently enough.
Incidentally Soldado tops the goal scoring/assists list. Not per minute but in total

Thanks for the video, nice to hear Tim praising our fans. ATM we have 11 injuries?
Hopefully some are recovered by Woolwich, and more by Palace, so we can win both games, and still have plenty of players ready for the struggles beyond. Hope we can get in Long and Lescott quickly or similar back ups, would like to see both of them v Woolwich, either starting or on the bench.
Once again, I feel like you need to temper your expectations a bit.
Its a cliche, but all the time he is getting in the positions he is Im not so concerned about his not scoring.
And he is getting into some superb positions. I have every confidence that once he gets a couple the floodgates will open.

While I do get frustrated at times when he drifts to the flanks ... I am really enjoying some of his buildup play. Clearly now we are seeing it even more frequently that Soldado offers other aspects when he is not scoring.
His vision ... he was significantly involved in both goals against United, and he threaded beautiful balls in behind United's defense for Lennon and Rose.
If not now, it'll be soon. He falls in the category of players that rely on positioning not pace ... so I'm not worried so much with him aging each day that his open goal drought continues. Goals should come, but at least in the meantime, he's doing the best he can.

I reckon his sight was impeded by the defender too.
When you look at it, that ball fucking flew off the surface, doubled in pace and bounced quite high.

Well, we're through the festive period now so hopefully that list will start shrinking from now on.
We've basically sacrificed the cups for league points - though I don't think we put out weak squads at any stage.
