Roberto Soldado

Love Llorente, top class player - wish we got him instead, tbh

That would be a great deal if possible

He seems to have not adjusted properly at Juve, i'll avoid calling him a flop as I remember doing so to another former Juve player about 13 years ago :avbfacepalm:, anyway I don't see Woolwich signing him as he's too similar to Giroud ie a big strong technically good striker they need someone a little more nimble whilst we need a bigger stronger type.

But Llorente is better looking.

:vdvdive:
Far better looking

Fantastic today, even without the goal.

I think he isn't what we expected - he was sold to us as a finisher, a poacher...my own feeling is that having a striker who is just a poacher is like having a keeper who is just a shot stopper: not really enough in the modern game.

He is a lot like Adebayor in that he drops deep to link play - today, he linked up well with Townsend on the right. I've read some criticisms that if he does that, he can't be on the end of crosses. My riposte is that there wouldn't have been a cross in the first place without Soldado dropping deep. Furthermore, there were times when he back heeled it to Townsend, got into the middle and could've scored. Anyway, Paulinho needs to be more willing to run forwards as he has in the past to get on the end of those crosses; in fairness, he did manage a couple but couldn't quite get the finish today.

He proved yesterday that he wasn't concerned by his lack of goals and he has ice in his blood when it matters. The same cannot be said for Defoe, who had a great chance to set Paulinho away but badly overhit the pass. Granted, he had only just entered the fray as a sub but I can't help but think if Soldado was on the ball in that situation it would have led to a goal.

Soldado may still be adapting to our style and the rough and tumble of the Premier League but yesterday proved he will be our main man up front this season. Intelligent movement, calm finisher.

I really want to see him up front with a fit, focused Adebayor.

Showed what he can do when the game is stretched a little and he has space to run behind the defenders. Thats what he did all the time for Valencia but, realistically, is only likely to happen for Spurs if we're either ahead in games or playing a team where we can't enforce our high-line.

Was nice to see him place it rather than try and send the keeper through the back of the net with the ball.

Soldado's finish (as well as his interception to the build-up) tells you all you need to know about the guy's quality! Defoe may not have been the type of player to be involved in the build up, but he can still finish!

Soldado brings a bit of Berbatov's cool head in front of goal, mixed with a bit of Keane's support play... that, in ANYONE'S book, is a heady mix!
